View Full Version : INJEN CAI or Coilovers?

I am pondering my next modification. So far, I have all the modifications found in my signature. I am either going to get an INJEN CAI or the Hayame or Tanable coilver setup.

What do you guys think? Performance wise do you think the CAI will help it that much, or should I just go with the suspension setup?

I don't know what to do. Either way the CAI is the last perf thing I want to get, and the coilovers is the last suspension thing I want to get.

Please comment.

Thx,

D

I say go with the intake. Let your engine breathe. (and roar at high RPM's!!)

CAI...

DRAGONRSXS HAS A POINT (to an extent)....ur not allowing ur car to breath well...I dunno how u drive...fast, slow, scary....but having proper air flow in and out is very important IMO...I c u have an exhaust...so gasses go out nicely...but now...work on getting more air so u can use ur exhaust to full potential......(my 2 cents)

Ok I purchased the INJEN CAI from adventon.

I also inquired about the Hayame coilovers. Michael from urbanimport.com said he could let them go for $630 shipped if you buy before the end of the year. That sounds like a great deal especially since they are top loaded.

Actually, I think I'm going to part out my car now and buy the S2000. I want to get the hardtop for it too.

Hey I just got the Injen CAI installed today- I highly recommend it. It only took me 1 hour to do everything. Anyhow, it has nice gains throughout the whole powerband. I had a comptech drop in filter before, and injen cai is way better than that.

So tha aem cai is a good buy? But what I'm wonderin is the install how hard is it

I have the Injen CAI...not the AEM CAI. The Injen CAI comes with a new washer bottle which the AEM does not. AEM requires you to relocate the bottle to the other side of the car. The Injen gives you a new bottle which sits on top of the filter somewhat. You just ditch the stock bottle.

I think the Injen is an easier install.

I got it off www.adventon.com

Yea I used a razor blade to cut the inside fenderwell lining by the wheel well area. As a result, the pipe opening (where the filter is) was placed behind the fog light area.

Do a search on here for INjen CAI install..there are some good threads. I didn't use the instructions that came with the part; I just looked at the pictures.

As I stated before with the Injen you dont have to relocate the water bottle to the other side of the car. Why dont you just do some research on here and use the search function and look up the installs for both intakes. Then you can decide for yourself.

Haha

Now if price is not an option, why not go for Tein coilovers?
http://www.optauto.com/store/images/TEIN-FLEX.GIF

"TEIN Type Flex (Driving Spec Control Master) Coilover Kit. Full-Length adjustable. 16 Levels of damping force adjustability. Teflon coating for rust prevention. Includes Pillow Ball Upper Mount. $1,767.00 Pretty expensive. For about 700 dollars less you can get there Tein Basic Coilover Kit, great kit.

Well, since I now have BMW M5 as my daily driver and I'm using the RSX for AutoX, I didn't buy the coilovers yet. But I may get those teins.

I found a solution-- I got the A Spec Coilovers from the dealer for $667 total. Cheap investment- small drop..good enough for me.
