I was wondering how to change the Transmission Oil on my RSX, is there a bolt where you can just unscrew to let the fluid out or is there a transmission oil pan that I have to remove? (I can do the transmission oil change at the dealer but I really don't trust them all that much).:dontknow:

Yes, you have to remove the front driver side wheel. There is a large circular metalic bolt with a golden square in the middle of it at about 10:30 from the wheel's center. If you have the tool to turn this then you can change the oil. Down to the right and recessed farther, at the very bottom of the transmission (of course) is the draining bolt. It's the largest of the protruding golden bolts, which also requires a special tool.

There is a diagram of the drain bolt in the manual, but it has the transmission in the wrong location, telling you that you can get to it from underneath the car when in fact you have to remove the driver's side wheel to access it.

That sounds like alot of work compared to the 95 Accord that I was driving before, all I had to do was just unscrew a bolt under the car as if I was changing motor oil.

Yeah, it's the same deal.
But it's difficult to get to the bolt without removing the wheel and you need a special tool to unscrew it because Acura doesn't like people to play with their transmissions. They have the bolt marked so they know if you've unscrewed it.

What is this special tool called? And is it hard to find?

I honestly have no idea.

I'd suggest taking a digital picture of the bolts and printing them out and bringing them into Sears, because I don't know what to tell you to ask for. Or better yet, go ask Acura what it is they use.

Isnt the square holed bolt for a 3/8" drive ratchet? My ratchet fits the square. Also, I dont know about the base but with my S the bolt to take off is a 20mm, the fill hole.

I just did my transmission oil change last night. At 68k miles the tranny oil was a nice dark brown :P No chunks or fillings, just smooth watery chocolate. Anyways on the base model (i don't know if it's different from the Type-S) The drain bolt is on the bottom, it's has a circular head with a square in it, you can fit your 3/8 ratchet into it. The fill bolt is just a little upwards and to the right, it's a 17mm bolt, damn thing was tough as hell to get off from underneath the car, so it's easier to just remove your intake/airbox and get it from the top. (I have the AEM SRI so I can just remove the filter and it was a snap). Anyways, good luck. My shifting feels alot smoother and when i downshift the car barely even twitches now (it used to jerk for a while, especially on 2nd gear downshifts).

did you guys put any additives to try to relieve the notchiness throughout second and third gears? My friend said to use some type of sychromesh to relieve the notchiness. Do you think it would work?

I've generally been told that additives are bad things.
