Add R1 racing coilovers, stiff nice feel, that is specialized for the RSX.

You forgot the Eibach Prokit. It doesn't drop as far as the Sportlines but rides much better. For people who are more concerned with performance than looks.

The comptechs ended up being a 1.625 inch drop.

To NUGENX:
how are the r1 coil-overs? ive seen and only heard good things about the skunk2 coil-overs for many cars but have never really heard to much of the company r1? how much were the coil-overs and hows the ride?

Do you have the competech springs installed on your car? If so can you post a picture of your car with the drop, and how is the ride quality?

01-03-2002, 11:46 PM
This is funny the comptechs started out being a 1.25 drop then a 1.5 drop and now a 1.625 what the hell?
I am glad they are 1.6 I think its a perfect drop, it will still leave about 1 inch between tire and fender.
Drift
01-04-2002, 05:44 PM
I'm definately glad that they are 1.6XX instead of 1.2. So Muxx, you didn't say whether you already got them installed or not. If you did, how's the ride? They claimed that the spring rates would'nt be much heavier than stock, but I'm thinking along with this increased drop that might have changed. (Hope not) Oh yeah, PICS!
I dont have them yet but I will soon. Here is a quote from Comptechs site.
"Springs, Comptech Sport (02 RSX)
$179.95
Drops the car about 1-1/2" front & rear.
Firmer, but still very streetable ride.
installation time: 4 hours +/-

Is no one picking Neuspeed cuz they have that reputation of sagging over time or cuz of the price (retail ~$240?)

01-07-2002, 01:16 PM
I've been told the Comptech springs will require a rear camber kit, though new shocks aren't needed.
Installation of springs (180) and rear camber kit (100?) should take about 3 hrs at 80 bucks a pop.

Eibach is clearly the best spring system to go with. I tried some of the companies to include Skunk2, Neuspeed and I find that Eibach keeps the comfort of the ride, but is much stiffer than the OEM standard susp. syst.

What are the spring rates on the skunk2's? Or any of the others? Or the stock springs, for that matter?
I'd have to say ground-control, because you actually have a choice. If your car rides like crap, it's your own damn fault.

I'm getting my skunk 2 coilovers with installation for 350? (US dollars) Is that cheap? All of you guys say that skunk2 is good, but do any of you actually have it on ur rsx? Tell me how it performs? ANy problems?:wavey: :wavey: :spin: :)

does it mean its bad for me to go with skunk 2's? i already ordered them. I've heard sooo many freakin problems with the sleeves slipping on the GC's and they squeek too...I don't want to have those problems. So is it bad to have the skunks?:wavey: :wavey:

They could have been for another car. Not sure how much they were going for, I'll check next time I go.

what about going with a spring like eibach or neuspeed or comptech, and getting an adjustable strut? what are they? does anyone have info about them? which company makes them for the rsx?
wouldn't save money and still keep the performance?
I'm looking for a similar to stock ride, stiffer, but not harsher... and to get i done inexpensively.

Hey heroofday, how many inches is between the tire from the wheel well. How much ground clearance do u think yo u have with the eibach kit. Also, does the back of your car look lower than the front? The reason I ask is because I was thinking of getting eibach, but the back looks lower than the front so I am thinking of getting comptech with the even drop both front and rear. Please let me know, thanks.
FaintReality
01-31-2002, 03:10 AM
Back will always look lower than the front because of the design of the body. My car is perfectly level as far as the height off the ground and the back tucks a little more tire than the front. I am using the GC coilovers at there max 2.5" drop.

Tire to wheel well is about 1 inch front and back. Ground clearance? Well, I'm not a car mechanic guru nor will I pretend to be, but it doesn't scrape into anything and I don't want my ride to be too low ~ its just the way I like it. I didn't really notice nor did I have anyone say that its lower on the back than front. Looks even to me
Hope this helps!

A reason why the ClubRSX springs aren't on the list? I had eibach sportlines on my civic and I was not nearly as pleased with the drop or ride quality as I am with the CRSX springs. Anyone who has them, back me up, I love em' and I think the drop is perfect and the ride is awesome. I'm one happy son of a biscuit.

Looking back, I should have definitely gotten coilovers. I had the money for just about any type of spring at the time I got my pro-kit, but I was not well studied up on everything that was available. That taught me to know my stuff before a purchase. Anyway, the pro-kit is fine I suppose, but I'd like to be lower.

10-01-2004, 06:51 AM
Rear camber kit adjust how your rims sit after being lowered...
imagine lookin at the car from behind at the tires...and when you lower it your
car will sit //----\\ but with a camber kit you can adjust it to sit ||----||
coilovers allow you to adjust the ride height on the fly... unlike just getting springs which will lower you to a fixed height...

with the sportlines, how harsh of a ride are we talking about.
I put a 2 inch drop on my acura El when i had it, it was siff, but nice.
peopel either say the drop on the sportlines is perfect, or the ride is too harsh..
the drop is only 1.8 and 1.5.... Stock our cars have a HUGE gap, so I figured this woudl take care of most of it, maybe leave a finger or two gap.
