Yes, it rattles.
Need to jack it up and see whats hitting but it sounds like the sway bar.

Did you feel a loss of low end power? Also, did you get an o2 sim or not? Do you get a CEL? Just curious ;)

Oh yeah...how's the interior noise with that header? Is it louder? The same?

Did you install the ES Motor mounts? It prevents the engine from flexing back and forth, which will stop the header from moving around as much, I think the JR usually comes with a set of polyeurethane motor mount inserts. Sorry if this is old news to you guys, better to try then to not try at all :)

well i bought this header used for 435 shipped. I used a carsound high flow cat and i dont have a CEL yet. I have some ES motor mounts in my garage ill put in eventually. But first im gonna try to wrap the sway bar and take off the heat shield underneath my car.

for performance all i have is Injen CAI, JRRH, Carsound high flow cat 2.5", DC Sports TCS 2.5", Revo short throw, clubrsx shift bushings, hondata intake gasket and gold line springs. The rest is in my profile. Im going to buy hondata in a couple of weeks. I cant wait!!!

i wrapped the sway bar and it went away. What happend is Big Al's put my exhaust to high so it was vibrating against the bottom of my car making a ding ding ding noise so i wrapped and its gone.

I wanna race a stock type S. Ill start picking on them more :D

well tonight i raced a guy in a mustang with a 305, intake, pullies, exhaust, new gears and a intake manifold. We raced 3 times and the 2nd time i beat him by a car. The other 2 times he beat me by a car. The reason i know what he had is we pulled over to a store and talked and he popped the hood and showed me his stuff. It was a good race. the person said he ran a 13.9 best at the track but he wasnt hooking up tonight like he usally does, so im guessing hes around mid 14's?

i bought a carsound high flow cat, had them cut the flanges off the test pipe and weld/custom fit them on the cat to match my system. Ill post pics when i lift my car up.

A friend of mine can hook me up with a 5zigen fireball exhaust for the type-s but since I'm not getting the race header any time soon, can I just put the exhaust on with the extension? Or do I need to get a type-s header too?

If there is a extension made, i think it would fit, the flanges on a base model rsx are opposite angles than a type s. but if there is a extention like i said it should fit perfectly, if not big al's is the place to go.:thumbsup:

I dynoed at 137.2 hp and 133 torque when i just had intake and exhaust. The race header is claimed to make about 18 whp? so i guess in the ball park of 150 - 160?

It seems to work only if you install it when you install the test pipe...REad the whole thread it has a lot of good information in it. as for the welding ill get into it later, i just got off work and im tired.

It was raining tonight so me and MI4K20 didnt get a good run in...ill post runs when they are good and dry out.

I ran a 2003 Civic Si tonight....that thing was so slow, i thought there were better than that...i was a easy bus length ahead of him at 75 mph and i spun through 2 gears....im so dissapointed.

we had 2 runs....none of them were clean...the first time..i launched to high in the rain and spun through 3 gears...the first 2 i didint move just sat there....craig was smarter than me and shifted early and got on me....i quit...


the second run...i got some traction and pulled away by 3rd but then i came off the clutch to early in fourth and grinded so went to nuetral and back to forth and he caught up but didnt pass me though....

against the SI...Craig(punk) just plainly destroyed him..he beat him so bad, by the time they got down to us..craig was cruising and the hatch was way in the back....i wouldnt be suprised if craig went 1-2-3 then to 5th....lol.

Overall....craig base is pretty strong. i think he is putting down about almost 150whp...i drove his car and overall i could feel more power in the midrange...the race header is a great mod for a base...i think he should run no cat...lol. But i dont think its enough to beat a type-s with a decent driver..remember a s dyno at least 165whp stock.

we gonna get a clean run in and imma whip his ass...lol

No base has a race header and hondata yet. Guess im gonna be the first. Im still waiting for clubrsx to ship me the hondata box so i can send it out. The race header gave a big noticable improvement. Ill post more about improvements when i get hondata on it.

installing a header isnt hard at all. I was going to do it myself but i cant weld. I took it to big al's and they charged 120 total. I helped the guy do all his work since he never seen a K Series before, lol.

Damn $120 for the install, awhile back asked a local shop down here how much to install a shorty header on the RSX and they said like $225 or so cause the header is gonna take alot of time or something, anyone wanna come to Hawaii and help me?:laughing:

This is what i plan on doing......Getting hondata, getting some pullies, and a flywheel/clutch combo then im gonna dyno and see where im at and if i wanna stay NA or go Turbo.

If i go NA skunk 2 is supposedly coming out with cams and a intake manifold for our cars, Crower is realising cams soon also. Then raise the compression with pistons and rods to 11:9:1. That be producing some nice power right there.

nope, it will only fit if you get it cut and welded to have a custom fit. If you want a perfect fit by a Type S after market exhaust, everthing will bolt up perfectly.

I have the Magnaflow Catback 4" tip and it came with both sets of midpipe for the base and for the type s. So if I ever decide to get a race header I'm set?

I already have HP header over a year ago and it's holding up perfectly. Does the JRRH for the type s bolt up perfectly to the base exhaust manifold? All the holes and screws are in the same place right? Corso had a JRRH on his base before he got a K20A2 swap and supposedly it was a big improvement but people doubted his time slip.

So JRRH bolt up to K20A3 perfectly and the modifications are made from the header back to cat and exhaust?

I live in cali with strict smog laws so this might be a problem..

My setup is basically klutchrsx's setup without hondata. I don't have dyno so I'm not going to try to claim any numbers. It's a decent around town car. I don't street race with strangers so I don't know either. 1st and 2nd are very strong for a base, 3rd is a bit better than stock but not by much

you should be set. everything bolts up perfectly, but if your looking to keep the stock cat then it wont work. your going to need to buy a carsound or run the test pipe they provide.

haha. Well i put my ECU back in and waited 15 min. then went and drove it. There is a place when you turn out of my street that there is a house a empty road and a house, not a long distance at all. So i nail it. Im at 60 MPH before the house even is there. IM just sitting there like DAMN remebering my tach go to 7300 and how fast i got up there. It just pulls so nicely now through out the whole rev range. I say its a great mod. Im gonna dyno now as soon as possible, but im thinking about a clutch/flywheel combo. Im going to go boost my car later doing a custom setup using a T3/T4 with a 50 trim and getting the programmable Hondata as my ecu. I think it'll be pretty tight. But for the mean time im gonna have a pretty quick NA base model. Oh yeah any one wanna buy my whole exhaust set up in a couple months? :D

Im not one for words. Um, it pulls harder throught out the whole rev range, exspecailly when the secondary's open at 4700. 3rd gear feels alot more powerful. the higher redline is nice so when you shift if drops you right in the powerband. Basically i love it. Let me drive it somemore tommorow and ill get back to you.

On another note, im going to buy a Fidanza flywheel (7.5 lbs) and im still deciding on a clutch. Any suggestions?

Ok for all you K20A3 owners. Here's my situation on: I cracked my random technology hi-flow cat this weekend. I want maximum power that I can get and I know a race header can fit on the base models both manual and automatic. Currently, I have a 4-2-1 DC Sports header and a 5Zigen type S cat-back, but I definitely want a race header now. Here are my options:

A) Replace hi-flow cat converter
B) Jackson Racing Race Header
C) Toda Race header with sway bar

Should I get motor mounts and another hi-flow or just leave it out? I know it will be louder, but i have no emissions testing where I live. Suggestions please. This base auto owner needs power! :)

took it to the shop and got all new donut and flat gasket...car sounds like stock now...running magnaflow catback piping with stock type s muffler

the leak made a slight raspy air sound at idle and gradually increase with throttle.

i didn't think it was that bad but today i taped a small piece of paper at the tip of a tick and put it under my car where the flange for the header and test pipe connect, it blew the paper away

now everything is air tight and i love the stock type s muffler

Anyways, I get a call from Toda saying they have their race header back in stock. Of course, I am so anxious to get my car fixed, I ordered it. Header and sway bar should be here this Tuesday. :)

im gonna go with the comptech race header, with a 2.36" cat back like HKS or tanabe etc... then grab a 6 speed tranny from a type s or a type r with a new klutch and lightened flywheel. im shooting for 13's first base into the 14's... im gonna be the first into the 13's (i hope) :/
