Pick-Up POWER!!!!

tuesday nite i was at a red light and a saturn was next to me and wants to race. the saturn beat me at the get go!!!! i had it at my sport shift but still wasn't enough to get ahead. the saturn had a catback but didn't sound like a stick.
what did i do wrong? And my oem tires are pretty worn out.
is there any tips or special mods that i need???

under my hood i have Tein SS w/ EDFC, AEM CAI, Thermal catback,(headers are coming w/ HiflowCat) hawks hps pads all around.

some people have automatic rsx because they dont know how to drive stick in my case and also because my parents werent buying me stick for my first car

but sequential shift mode does suck .. just use the regular automatic mode and just gun it .. just DO NOT NEUTRAL DROP
i lost to my friends 03 accord 4 cylinder similar to how you lost to the saturn .. went into SS mode thinking it would give me an edge. but it didnt at all. plus considering the fact that my friend neutral dropped the accord i was taken off the line
by third i was pullin on up on him but it wasnt enough

Yea, you could have raced a Ion Redline, they come stock supercharged. Which will give a Type-S a loss depending on driver and mods. But i dont know about u guys SS mode i kill almost everything that goes agianst me. GT Mustang Autos, Protoge's, Sentra, Civics, Eclipses to name a few SportShift Rules

As a matter of fact I beat a few base RSX 5 Speed cause i increased my stall speed. A little more increase in stall speed and a few more mods and my auto would beat a Type-S. All a manual really has over an auto is stall speed.

Cost comes into consideration too though. Over here in El Paso, type-s is $4k more than the base (for brand new ones) and I would assume paying that much more for a car it would be faster. But since cost isn't an issue, I agree that the type-s is superior to the base in almost every aspect and responds to bolt ons and other mods better.

the SS is much faster in an auto than just normal auto as i tried it my self.
when you use normal auto you won't have a choice of when to rev it as SS you can change it whenever you want.
when i tried it last time i got 10 something sec 0-60mph while in SS i got 9.20 or something like that i just know low 9s.
when i did this i didn't get my car tuned with the VAFC right so thats prob why i got so slow

Guyz guyz. Come on. He's gotta be telling the truth, after all, he's taken a GT Mustang with an auto RSX. :rolleyes: But I hate flamers so I won't question the verity of any of your statements in your thread.

Now I totally understand about parents getting you an auto car. My current car is an autotragic V6 2K1 Accord coupe, which I enjoyed... until my underdrive pulleys totally ate the transmission a few months back (for those who are unaware... 6th gen V6 Accords, Odysseys, and some of the later Prelude autos were all given 100k extended powertrain warranties b/c the tranny is a defective design)... but that's why I'm restoring it to stock and getting a Type-S in a few weeks..

I would HEAVILY advise AGAINST attempting to build up your auto... The final fix all us AV6 drivers found (www.v6p.net) was a replacement transmission designed by the v6p R&D team. It can withstand up to 500 whp. Of course it also cost $4k+. And I'm pretty sure you don't have a little warranty thing from Acura that will get you a free replacement if you blow yours (I assume by "i'm gonna have the fastest auto base RSX ever" that you're looking to forced induction). FI VOIDS WARRANTIES!!!!!!! it most definitely also blows auto trannies (unchecked FI will blow any tranny, but on a tranny where you cannot easily replace components nor can you strengthen it by replacing parts with cryo treated or race components without spending $5K+... you're gonna be SOL).

gt mustang my ass, musta been like a 99 with not gas pedal. I can barely take my friends GT mustang 03 but he has some mods (exhaust, intake, pulleys, and something else) and i can barely hang with my friends evo and just BARELY pull on it. Sometimes i just look down at that auto thing and start to cry. As soon as money is handy im converting this bitch to manual and going stage 2. My mind is made, auto is a waste even if turbo'ed, and yea i do have a turbo'ed auto. Its fun if you just want it to have it, you get a little go but if you seriously want to be racing, forget it unless your going to dish out the cash for a level 10 tranny upgrade (which i have yet to see anyone successfully get) and atleast a stage 2 turbo to compensate.

just do simple mods like I/H/E and then go with coilovers and make it better at turning, coz I/H/E will give the best power you can get for an auto, unless you go force induction. and beter suspension will help a lot as you would get better times on the track :thumbsup:

I am 17 and the RSX is my first car, so my mom told my dad 2 buy me an auto to get used 2 driving even tough i know hoe 2 drive manual considering im gonna get a 00 GSR as my daily driver 2 work etc. Or i can wait and get a S2k or 350 maybe a Evo l8er down the road. my parents lost my cousin in a stick .. he didnt know how to drive it and messed up and hit a tree and died on impact ... so they sort of have this fear that it is going to happen to me or my brother so we both are getting screwed with autos

i would try a tranny swap but its just way way too expensive
im just gonna do normal engine stuff, like race headers and exhaust and then just do suspension and exterior and interior mods
ill fill my need for speed in four years when i trade in the RSX for a 6 speed M3 coupe the day after i get out of college :D

The GTS was an 02 and yes it was stick. No he didnt give me a head start but he had a real shitty reaction time like 1.2 or something like that. He mis-shifted 2nd and of course i hit all my gears cause of SS thanx SS.

Guy with the GTS should just get an auto if he has a r/t of 1.2 and misshifting. Misshifting should be a rare thing, unless it's another person's car...at least for me anyway.

People always diss the SS. U gotta learn to drive it right, its more than clicking the shifter up. Heres sumthing i noticed u get better accelration if u let off the gas be shifting and u should bounce 2 jus like a stick. Let off the gas and hit it be4 u hit the rev limiter. Go 2 a tranny shop and increase ur stall speed. Bam, u got a custom auto 5 speed :thumbsup:

No offense but you really shouldn't waste your money on upgrading your auto. People dump thousands of dollars into their autos and don't even get out of the 16s. IMO that's pathetic. Dont underestimate the power of an SC2. I had a 96 saturn sc2 and sent some looks of shock on a bunch of Homda ricers. My best time ever quarter mile with a technically stock engine was 15.3. Light as fuck with quickness.

good point about not knowing how to drive an auto. Didn't see that one coming. I guess it would have to do with timing the launches down and being able to push the stick up at the right time in ss mode. I don't know...I'll just leave it at that.

You made the same mistake many of us SS owners did.. it's simply a slush box
and eats up near 35% Horsepower on the dyno.. our cars only dyno out @ 117.9 at the wheels :thumbsdow

What was Acura thinking to do this to a RSX.. better off with a 4 speed also because the first 3 gears are the same really.. they only give you a 4 & 5 over-drive for better passing on the highway.. duhhhhhhh.. bad ratios also

gonna take a 2 ~ 3000 hit :/ and 3000.00 into this car won't make it as fast as an S :(

By the way.. i was beaten by saturn that was doing 16.6 in the 1/4
and i raced him twice.. my car was best getting 16.8 that night

Now I'm really having problems with it pulsing during acceleration... it's like making waves.... wooooooom wooooooooom wooooom... during 2nd especially

and the car is a second slower since i bought it :( now doing 17.4 0 -60's in 9.2 secs...
that sucked... for now on.. i'm buying a stick.. i always bought a stick before..

I think the Auto RSX is really nice because you don't have to shift every damn second of driving. The 6 speed is A LOT of shifting. I find myself constantly shifting. It would be a joy to drive an auto!.

base 5 speed! 15.5 it's in the 1/4 forum. Give it time! 10psi will blow it up! I've had plenty of experience with building turbo cars! Until you've done it yourself you don't know! Those pistons, rings, rods, etc. Are not forged! guess you don't know what that means. Seems like you don't know alot of things! You can't just take a stock aluminum motor put 10-15psi on it and expect it not to blow up. Trust me! I've built 4 turbo cars in my time! If you wanna run high boost you need a motor that can handle it! One that was built with a turbo! As a matter of fact I beat a few base RSX 5 Speed cause i increased my stall speed. A little more increase in stall speed and a few more mods and my auto would beat a Type-S. All a manual really has over an auto is stall speed.

Just because you increased your stall spead, (which im guessing you mean adjusted your idle to around 2000-2500rpm?) might make it faster off the line, it also means that your wasting a lot more gas and are putting a shit load of pressure on your engine when it gets into the top end, your an idiot, manual gearboxes still have a considerable weight advantage over you and your AUTO gearbox, same engine, same car, only manuals weigh 2694 lbs and the autos weigh 2771 lbs, check acura.com specs if you dont beleive me. So without mods it pretty much comes down to youre a moron and youre going to embarrass yourself if you keep bragging about your stupid idea of fucking with the idle rpm. By the way, the next time you race a base RSX 5-speed, make sure they know you want to race, and try to steer clear of the old ladies when you stop at a light, they dont generally race.
