I don't know if it will fit but one thing is sure, you tire diameter will be higher than the stock one. That means lower performances. 18" wheels is already a cause of lower performance. So you will add two factors who are performance handicaps. If not boosted, your car will become a turtle (meaning your car will accelerate slower and it will take more time and distance to stop).

hopefully i can get some 17x8 and run 225's :D

If you're getting 18s then run 225/40 tires

I just put some Racing Hart C5s on with 235/40/18 Dunlops on with no problem (the place that was putting them on didn't think they would fit but there are no problems) and the car has been lowered. A 245/40/18 would not have fit without rubbing.

1 or 2 people here have put 245/35/18 on sucessfully before and Progress had these on their RSX. Offset is VERY crutial; I think +43 is optimal.

i would go with 245.... 235 is even pushing it.

stock rolling diameter...
205 x 0.55 = 112.75mm
diameter = (16 x 25.4) + (2 x 112.75) = 631.9mm
rolling circumference = 1985.43mm
rolling diameter with 245/40/18...
245 x 0.40 = 98mm
diameter = (18 x 25.4) + (2 x 98) = 653.2mm
rolling circumference = 2052.35
that is a fair difference. your speedometer will be 3% slower than you are actually travelling. eg... when it says you are going 60mph... you will actually be travelling about 62mph.
the spedometer will be off as will the tachometer and the odometer.
I have 17x7 wheels and im running 225/45/17 if you are going to be running 18s most likley they are 7.5-8" wide. I would suggest a 225/40/18, which is what most people run anyways.

you're right about the speedometer and odometer. there is no reason for the tachometer to go inaccurate when changing wheel/tire size since it is only dependant on the speed of rotation of the engine.
yea your right, just wanted to add another 'meter' to the equation.

hehehe. 3 "meters" sound more convincing than 2 eh.

I ran 235-40-18 w/ SPC camber kit before and no rubbing. 245? i really doubt it. I'm running 225-45-17 now and it's the best for rsx :D

My setup is fine with Tien SS/p suspension. But 245/40/18 would not have fit with my Hart C5 rims.

What is the offset and rim width of your rims? What are you running for camber settings? Is it dropped?

Discount Tire Direct says that a 235/40R18 will fit the RSX. They don't say anything about a 245 fitting. You might get 245s on there, but there is no need for a tire that big, and as others have said the bigger tires weigh more, causing slower acceleration, worse gas mileage, inaccurate speedometer, etc... Believe me, DTD would list a 245 if it would work on a RSX with no problems. They are really, really good at what they do.

I agree to everything above except in my situation the 235/40zr18 tires gave be perfect speedometer readings. All cars come from the factory reading with around 5% error..mine is now accurate (I was paced by the local Pd to check it out). i you go bigger go forged and as light as possible and the dif will be minimum

i have 245/40/18 on 18x9 40 offset.
they fit.
I have tein SS-P on tein recommanded height and no rubbing, but you might rub the wheel fender wall on the inside.
I'm planning to get 235/40 or something even smaller later on.

I have 235/40/18 on 18x7.5 no rubbing except if you do a high speed 180 degree turn with the same suspension as above :thumbsup:

I'm dropped the same as well, since I have bigger wheel diameter I'm not exactly 1 finger, most like 0.5 finger?
I had eibach sportlines before and no rubbing...just on the hard UTurns and on the track.

I have 18x8 (+48) with 235/40 lowered on Pro-Kit's. No rubbing anytime, anywhere.

get it checked and I think you'll be pleasantly suprised. Or mine was a fluke. I had the Olice officer pace me before i put my race header on. you can also check it for yourself when you see the radar signs on the side of the road that post your speed :thumbsup:

I got on discont Tire Direct as well and they claim the 235/40's will fit. I am stock height right now. my only concern is the offset. but i think you guys have cleared that up for the most part. Let me know if this is not going to work.
thanks david

Uve got to really research this & I mean go out to ur car and make measurements. So many people really talk shit on these forums but others really know what there talking about(the experts always gave the same advice-research it for urself-thanks guys). For instance, I have 17x8.5 37mm offset and so many people said it wouldn't fit especially with that offset)and that I was going to rub and basically my car was going to blow up(this last part is a joke). Well, I got tired of just hearing this and that-and made my own measurement and that size width is still within the fender of ur car. Next I was told that a 245/40/17 tire wouldn't fit. Guess what? It does. I'm dropped on Mugen Suspension and I dont rub at all even with the wheel turned all the way. Go figure. Good luck.
