Unless they fill up with air after they get shot out like in James Bond, I not buying them.
How can somebody spend $1550 for some 17's? :dontknow:

Yeah that is ridiculous. You'll be able to get them for half of that price in like 2-3 months. I'm definately getting them.
I didn't know the new rims were Enkei's
I'd rather go buy Volks rims.

If you can get them, because they were made in limited quantities, the A-Spec 17s look much better and are less expensive than the stock '05 17s.

I paid $485 a piece for my 17 inch Advan RG's for my old 95 accord. Good wheels come at a high price. Yeah, these wheels are factory wheels and I personally would want something not so common as well, but you can't deny Enkei is a very good JDM wheel maker. The wheels on the A-Spec kit are made by Advan, so are they "overpriced" as well?

When the RSX FPP (Factory Performance Package, now A-Spec) was first shown, it had Yokohama (Advan) Kreuzer X's on it, but when Acura actually brought the A-Spec to market they had switched those out for the one's we see offered today...which are Enkei's. Hope that clears it up for everyone.
Anyway, anybody know the weight on the new 05 Type S rims???

Do the rims say Enkei on them somewhere? How do we know they are really Enkei rims just because of a few EBay auctions and some hearsay? Just curious.

Don't know, haven't seen the inside of the wheel, but Honda typically uses Enkei's for their factory wheels. Nevertheless, they are definately NOT the Yoko's/Advan's that were first shown on the FPP kit. There was a thread awhile back with pics that compared the two.

this has gone way off-topic, but as the thread sits from the first post. its retarded. no comment from there and on.

Yer there, just saw my 1st 05's friday, I like both the base and S rims, but
prefer the ASPEC wheels.

Just read thru the review of the 05 RSX-S on vtec.net and they said the wheel and tire combo weighs 41lbs per. Not sure what the present 02-04 wheel/tire weight is, but that 41lbs doesn't seem bad at all.

I believe ours weigh in at 38.5 lbs. according to the Speed Channels Mugen project Acura series. They weighed the stock wheel/tire combo. So, not bad for 17's.

That sounds a little high to me, especially for 17's from Enkei. I'm thinking 18-20 pounds tops.

Dealer just confirmed to me the 05 RSX-S wheels weigh 21 lbs. each. Actually, a lot higher than I previously thought. Was thinking the same 18-20 lbs. as 7900rpms.

According to the Speed Channel when they ran the Mugen project Acura show, the 02-04 wheel/tire combo weighs 38.5 pounds. The Mugen 17 inch wheel/tire combo also weighed in at 38.5 pounds. 05 RSX-S combo weighs in at 41 pounds. Not too shabby for factory cast rims.

Thats a matter of personal opinion, I think the Type R wheels don't look that great. The 05 RSX-S wheels are some of the best stock looking wheels i've seen along with these:
350Z Track Wheels,
IS300 wheels

Inflated prices always come from the dealer. You guys all know that. Some dealers actually go out and buy a set of aftermarket wheels for a car, which would cost lets say 1000 in the magazines with tires, but the dealer would charge 1500-1600 plus the trade of the stock wheels. Ouch!!! And this ebay guy might be one of those type of dealers, making money on mounting aftermarket wheels on cars, and now making mad money on selling the stock wheels.

The funny thing is, you can buy the 17" A-Spec wheels from the same guy for $700. I think if he is charging a lot for the 05s, it is because they cost a lot from the factory.
There isn't any reason to buy the 05 rims new because in a few months people will be selling them to buy aftermarket rims.

how much that cost you to powdercoat the 05 rims? did you remove the tires?
chiqo05
11-13-2004, 05:35 PM
I was thinking of doing the center caps too before...but i kinda like them how they look now...45$ a wheel for sandblasting the old paint and then the powder coat...yes I took off the tires, that cost 15$ to take them off and 40$to put them back on and get them balanced....It was sad looking at my new car sitting on jackstands overnight
