Im wondering on weather I should wax my type-s or not..Anyone out their going to wax their new rsx, and if so what brand are you going to use? I dont think I need to do a 3 phase system just because their are no swirls or scratches to remove, I will probably go right to the carnuba using Mothers Probably. ANyone else?

A friend of mine keeps recomending Zaino to me. He uses it on his S2000. So I'm going to try that. http://www.zainobros.com

Does anyone know if the RSX has a clear coat on it or not? You have to buy a different zaino if it does.

Pinnacle is the best, disappointed with Zaino and will not switch back. I use the Souveran wax. As long as the car is a month old it is ok to polish and wax. I expect to polish and wax mine within days of getting car. It should be a month old by the time I get it, if not I'll wait till its a month old.

I use the entire Pinnacle lineup.

I use Liquid Glass for my final polish coat. It's the most amazing stuff I've ever used. If you have not heard of it, check out www.liguidglass.com

The Corvette people have been using Zaino for years...It is the best...The S2000 people are also using Zaino....

Zaino is the best if you FOLLOW the directions and maybe even leave the Z2 on for like 24 hours...and get lots of Z6.

When I get my RSX Type S or Type R I will be using Zaino from day one...

Does anyone in here uses Zymol? I think that that has beed rated the best wax for a couple years now and I know several people who use it. However there has been no mention of it so far in this thread.

Also, there was one person who touched on the origial question. But to pose it again cause I'd like to know too: Do you wax a new car?

The previous person said to wait a month, just curious why and where this time comes from.

I just used Eagle One WET and I must say its pretty good. It leaves a very nice reflective shine. I like the UV protection they offer.

I use Flash wax by a company named Precision. It is a two part wax that has a nice cleaner in it. You have to shake the bottle to mix the 2 parts. The stuff has been amazing on my other cars... but it does have some petroleum distallates in it. Anyone know if that would be safe for clear coats?

But how long should you wait before you wax your new car. I asked the salesman and he said yes it has a clearcoat, but to wait to wax it for 6 months... Any comments??

Wax is fine, it will protect the shine

No need to polish, the aggregate in the polish will dull the finish.

If in doubt, read the back of the can, man!

Oops, my bad. I've edited my original list. (Added paste/liquid.)

Got it from Consumer Reports (http://www.consumerreports.org)

I think you need to be a member to see the ratings. I'm not only a member, but also a client. LOL.

The paste was 3rd (you know, the one in the can as opposed to the bottle (liquid form.)) It looks like this. http://store4.yimg.com/I/rodi_1641_4950235

I'm tellin ya kids,

Spring for the zymol.

It's easy on, easy off.
And I can't believe how the water beads up.
It's a thing of beauty!
Comparing before and after, it was like the dealer prep skipped my wax job. :D

I bought the standard zymol, in the gentle light blue shade.

I got it a local retailer that has groceries to auto parts that we're all familiar with.

I just used Zaino over the weekend. I put Zaino cleaner on first, followed by 2 coats of show car polish for clear coats. It shines like glass! We'll see how it stands up to the rain.

It took me like 3 hrs to wash and wax my car...that's the sucky part. One cool thing about Zaino is you can wax your windshield wipers, headlights, taillights and other plastic stuff. It leaves no white coating like some waxes.
