Hi, I was wondering if anyone has the VIS carbon fiber spoon style front lip?
I don't hear much about this lip and I think it's very nice looking almost like the greddy but not as agressive or as low. If you have it;
How's the fitment and do you have any pics of it? thanks in adavance

You're not the first, I've seen it on 1 other car and yes it looks pretty good. I'm not sure about the fitment though.

I have it, I bought it like 6 months ago along with a vis carbon fiber hood..and still haven't put it on yet. Im waiting to get type r sides and type r rear lip and jdm headlights..its a hella nice lip. My buddy has the lip on an eg hatch thats suppose to be painted DSM but its darker. Its on honda-tech search title "whoring out my friends eg's."

looks like racing hart cp8

yes they are the racing hart cp-8 in black. Just recently I painted them bronze and put on the mugen front bumper since the Vis lip was in a slight accident. Ill have pics withing the next few days.
The VIS Spoon lip is a PITA because you install it on top of your stock lip. You'll have to drill into your stock lip to attach this piece. Just a heads up for anyone looking into this.

Nug, I think you are smoking way too many nugs.... J/K
Anyways, maybe its possible to drill into the lip to install, but I know my body shop did NOT. They glued the portion of the lip to the underneath side on the bumper, so you cant even see the glue and used rivets on the side.

so the lip doesn't even come with screws? Do I need to take the stock little lip off?

Does anyone have more pics of this lip. I would like to see a better pic then the one that was posted. Thanks

What do you mean by better? I have more, whats wrong with the one above?
You CAN keep your stock little lip, but you dont need to. And now the lip does not come with any hardware, I recommend you bring it to a body shop.

That pic is good but I would like to see pics of it from other angles. Maybe a pic of it from the front and not the side. Thanks

all you need to put the lip on is double sided tape which you can find at any hardware store make sure you buy aleast the one that is rated for 5 lbs. first take the lip and clean off any dust then put the tape on make sure you dont take the other side of the tape off. screw in one side of the lip to the inside of the fender. now you can take the other side of the tape of and press it against the bumper firmly till you get to the other side. now you can screw the other side in and your done. oh by the way call this shop where i go the lip is cheaper there the number is (562) 634-1139 the shop is called Rated R thats where i buy all my stuff tell them you know rick with the black RSX.

thanks man for the instructions

I dont think the tape is a good idea uless you have it fully secured already, tape wont hold up a lip by itself. And since the lip is directly from Vis, i dont know how cheaper it would be. you are better off calling vis yourself.

Mine was a REALLY tight fit but i think it looks pretty good. I am lowered on coilovers so i dont know how low i am but i dont scrape it that much.....only on really step driveways.

yeah, thanks for the effort of posting the pics and all. But it's so hard to see the lip since it's carbon fiber (black) and it's kind of dark out.

btw..i just bought i used spoon style lip ....from the feel and look of it, it does not seem very durable. it is very thin and light and plus my car is slammed (ground controls) on stock 16s. seems like it will easily be broken if not careful with steep drive ways or tall speed bumps. i was told to bring it to a body shop and get backed with fiberglass to reinforce the stucture of the lip. hope this info helps..

^ is there anything like this that is made of plastic or fiberglass?

^^ The closest lip to this one is the GReddy lip. Looks similar and it's urethane.
HAYNRSX
10-05-2004, 07:34 PM
I think the GReddy lip hangs a little too low. The vis one looks like it doesn't hang that low if it does I guess I can scratch this off my want list

Can we get a picture of the lip in relation to the side skirts. I don't like when the side skirts and the front lip are at different heights.

not quite sure i understand what your saying...but if u mean your waiting for the replica spoon lip to come out...this is the replica spoon lip that vis makes. spoon never made a dc5 lip to what i understand.

Cool. I would go with the OEM sides since the JDM ones are thinner. And yes, this is the VIS replica spoon lip.

hey guys...im planning on doing the double sided tape idea on my spoon style vis lip. i was wondering how did u guys install the lip.
do i have to take the stock mini lip (not the optional oem lip) off the car and tape the vis lip to the stock lip, then put it back on the car.
OR can i just stretch the vis lip on stock mini lip while it is on the car.
i hope that made sense....i need feed back...thanks

I just got my lip today.
The Quality is A+, the weave on the carbon fiber is perfect.
Now if you're car is slammed it wont last long cause it's light and easy to crack I'm sure. But I'm only on a 2 inch drop so it's no big deal.
I love this lip. I'll try the double sided tape and 1 screw on each corner(but I'm afraid it will crack the clear coat on it?)

as long as u don't overtighten it, the clearcoat should be fine. post pics when u get it on!..
