i tried everything to get this off.....but it is still there! i've used the blue liquid ammonia spray...foam spray...you can see it when light is on it...very annoying...call me a perfectionist but after washing and waxing for quite a few hours today...i think i deserve to have a spot-free car.

i've tried the vinegar...it helps alot...but the water spot is still there....its just a fine, almost clear lining....and the lovely vinegar smell....you've mentioned that water spot contains lime..and calcium....i was wondering if this product called clc...or crc....(it comes in a gray container with orange, green, black lettering) it's designed to destroy them lime and calcium deposits of hard water...anyone used this on automotive glass? i've seen commercials of it working on coffee pot stains and bathroom tiles etc etc.....could this be the answer to our water spot woes?
ahh, I forgot what its called, but it might be the product you have mentioned. I had to soak a piece of piping in it once to remove lime and calcium deposits...and I know it was safe for almost everything. I'll look for the bottle later, and let you know...its in my garage somewhere.

I dont have a car yet:(, but my dad uses windex vinegar which leaves a good shine and removes hard water with a little effert. It is green not blue liquid and is a little hard to find in stores like walgreens or CVS (which really is a bad store, only say this cause I work at Walgreens:D ) . Don't know if it does any damage to the rubber seal on the window, but I know it does not harm the inside at all. Hope this helps you out, let me know if there is something better than what I suggested.
Has anyone tried any of these solutions on lime stains on the paint job? I would think CLR would be a good way to ruin the paint...
I want to try the vinegar, but again, am afraid of ruining the paint.
Any input is appreciated.
Thx

Ok - the vinegar trick works on surface deposits -
claybars work on surface deposits . .
other things work on surface deposits . . .
im not real sure id try CLR though . . .be very very very careful.
however, you said they are etched into the glass..... thats a different story
you need a glass abrasive to "sand" down the surrounding area to get at the etch.
i have done this myself - two year old windshield - outside parked - worked very well.
since i sell zaino, i tried the glas spolish - which contains micro abrasives designed for this job. slapped it on with a random orbit polisher, kept on it till it dried right up - then changed pads and took it off. next step - clean window very well to get the residue off . . . and it was much better.
i havent seen store bought stuff for this - but i would guess it may be out there.

i was cleaning the dash and got some Prolong protector on the windshield.. it made little "oil" looking spots.
i tried using water and scrubbing it out but no luck.. then i used Windex and it got everything out.. hope tis works for u too :D

You need glass polish!
The only really good one I've seen here is the Rain-X glass polish. I had some a while ago, and now I can't seem to find it in stores, and I'm all out... d'oh.
I bought it at a London Drugs before. I'm sure places like Wal-Mart would have it. In the states I guess there's places like Pep-boys too.
I think the polish is actually micro-abrasive. It won't scar your windshield at all, and it should remove absolutely anything, even if its lightly etched into the glass.

PS - Don't confuse Rain-X glass polish with their normal glass treatment.
It actuallly says "Glass Polish", and the bottle is blue.

RainX has a polish ?
I have to get to Crappy Tire more often - I dont recall seeing it there.
You are right, it has to have a micro-abrasive suspended in the liquid, or it aint gonna work.
frasty - wanna hear something weird . . . I have a chance to stock and sell Meguiars now also.. ... ... . .
still researching the margins, street prices etc . . . but it has been made available to me wholesale . . ;)

Some places say that the polish has been discontinued. A lot of people have never heard of it. But, it's still on their website!
Rain-X Glass Care (http://www.rainx.com/frame_auto_glass.htm)
(It's down at the bottom of the page). I haven't seen it in a while, but Canadian Tire doesn't usually stock "specialty items".
A Zaino distributor stocking Meguiar's too. That's cool. Cut me a deal on a few things, heehe. I need Gold Class wash, I can't find it anywhere here.
The US has so many more stores to buy quality products :(
