Does anyone have any suggestions for fairly decent priced struts for the hatch? I need something that will withstand the weight of the type-r spoiler. Has anyone had any luck with the strong arm struts you can get at canadian tire?? And my other question, is are these struts car specific?? Acura wants 105CAN for each oem hatch strut. Thats a little overkill isn't it.

I don't think you really need the struts.
The other option is the struts at the local auto parts store, but they are probably the same oem specs and not the upgraded oem ones.

The stock ones will hold a wing up and even the type r. Just wait till they go out and replace them with auto part store ones. Acura is on crack for that price.

good call chris, i remember seeing a post about where you couldn't even buy them from acura, unless you bought the wing, i thought that was pretty dumb

Acura will eventually have to sell them if they are not right now. The reason I drop a few hundred on a rear spoiler and then I can't get replacement struts. Nice try!!!!!

I have the replica Type-R wing and the trunk struts are fine and keep the trunk open. Plus I think its easier to close the trunk, dont have to push down so hard.

The reason i need the struts to hold up is because i sometimes help my dad's business with delievries. That means i constantly have to open and close the trunk. If these struts gets weaker and weaker, one of these times its gonna drop on my head. That would be no fun at all. Hey, Shibby, where did u get the type-r replica? Would it be the same weight as all type-r replicas?? Im thinking about getting one from SpoilersTO
