If scratch X doesn't work, then you will need an abrasive cleaner to smooth out the surface.

Meguires will work, i havent tried teh X one, but one day after eating dinner out, i realized that my car had poop.. what kind you say? well not bird poop.......but CAT poop! I mean a cat actually went onto the hood of my Legend and took a crap!. and if you've seen cats poop, they just dont sit, they like to "dig" at the ground around them as if they were buring their poop, so when i inspected the poop, i realized MANY OH I MEAN MANY scratches around the poop and on the fender. It just clawed at the paint, luckily the scratches were light and white colored, and i was amazed what Meguires did with just one application, they scratches magically disappeared, but its really just hidden in the wax, but all teh scratches are 90% unseen. very good stuff!

CAT POOP DUDE, JUST VWANTED TO SAY THAT YOU MADE ME SPIT OUT MY CEREAL FROM LAUGHING SO HARD. I NEVER HEARD OF A CAT SHITTING ON THE HOOD OF A CAR BUT I GUESS ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. THANKS FOR THE LAUGH, BUT SORRY ABOUT YOUR RIDE.

The scratch marks a cat would make wouldn't actually scratch the surface of the clear coat but it would leave marks behind. The Meguiars paint cleaner and polish will take them right off.

Remember to wax after using the paint cleaner/polish as this stuff will remove wax also.

I tried using zaino z5 today for removing scratches, followed the directions and tried twice, I can still see the small scratches that were left on my car from a few specs of drywall mud. I noticed that some drywall mud specs landed on my paint somehow, so I got a t-shirt, got it soaking wet and removed the specs which left the scratches. The zaino did not work for me, I followed the directions going in a back and forth motion. I dunno. Whats the name of the meguiars stuff to remove scratches?

Meguiar's has a few things that'll hide scratches
From their consumer line:
- Cleaner/Wax
- Deep Crystal System 1 - Paint Cleaner
- Scratch-X
Scratch-X is the most effective stuff for hand use.

Their pro line has several cutting compounds: Fine cut cleaner would be for fine scratches, but it's meant for a buffer.

With really stubborn scratches, I use Scratch-X to get the brunt of it out, then top it with Z-5 to hide anything else.

Frosty is right on the scratch x, but remember its an abbrasive, and will leave small swirl scratch marks .....But you can buy a 3m product , on the front it says removes small swirl scratchs ....this is what your suppose to use after using a compound ....I have tried both of these together, and it did the job very nice
