you'll accelerate faster and brake harder. Dropping any amount of rotational mass is usually equivalent to dropping about 4-5 times that amount in dead weight

duffman is right. Some people claim reducing 1 pound of wheel & tire weight is equivalent to losing 10 pounds in the rest of the car.
