When I'm cruising in 6th on the highway my egt is around 1200 or so. What are normal egt temps, and what is safe while driving?

depends on where the the probe is. 1200 normal cruising if you have it on one of the exhaust manifold runners. 800-900 idling, WOT could be anywhere between 1400-1700 depending on the setup.
