I know this is probably a dumb question but did you remember to remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it, then check the level?

I was actually going to start a post on this until i read this one. As far as I know, you're not supposed to fill the oil level up above the max indicator line or you run the risk of too much oil pressure blowing the seals on your piston rings, valves, etc. I'm curious as to why Honda would have them come off the boat like this. You would think that if it was an issue that Honda by all means wouldn't be screwing up brand new cars. I was thinkin that the reason for it to be overfull would be that the break-in oil that comes in the motor is designed to reach it's thermal barrier sooner than regular oil so they expect it to break down to the point where after the 1st 600 miles have been put onto your car the level is between the max and min. Since you're not supposed to push the motor very hard for the 1st 600 miles then too much pressure on the system becomes a non issue since the oil will be in between the 2 levels before you're taking it to redline. They also may do that so that they know if your car is burning oil within the 1st 1,000 miles that it was because you redlined the car before the break-in period was over and blew the seals inside the motor. Just a couple thoughts I had. Any other ideas?

Yes, I did wipe the dipstick before re-inserting it and check.

TypeS: So, you also noticed the same thing? Hope what you said is right.
