That thought crossed my mind also. It was toyed with in the mini series when Baltar was supposed to be making his cylon detector and he passed everybody. And the Brother Caleb (?) cylon is just mean enough that he would mess with a sleeper cylon like he did tigh's wife.

I really wasnt too pleased with Fridays ep. Not too much happened and i still dont understand why anyone from the 13th tribe would have made a cylon virus thing inside the beacon when they didnt even know of the cylons.
And why the frack did Apollo get demoted to a major? Thats sucks for him.

The only positive thing i liked about the ep was Adama confronting Starbuck and Tigh about them being assholes and bringing down crew moral.

Hopefully next weeks ep will be alittle more eventful.

i dont believe it was an on purpose virus from the 13th tribe. It could be an old bit of bacteria, endospore, whatever. Remember how lebon was dying in that weapons depot in the miniseries? There is something we humans have inately that can kill cylones. They just have to isolate it.

hmmm ... very true - but leobon all messed up due to whatever radiation the nebula put out? i think thats what adama said right before he beat the hell out of leoben in the miniseries. That it messed with the silica pathways in their brains or something like that.

The twelve colonies are named after the astrological signs of the Greek zodiac; for example, Scorpia (Scorpio), Caprica (Capricornus), and Aquaria (Aquarius). Several of the characters in the series have names corresponding to significant characters in Greek mythology, including Apollo, Athena, and Cassiopeia. The word "Adama" in Hebrew (though pronounced, in Hebrew, "adama" with the stress on the final syllable) means earth (in the sense of soil) and is the root word for the word "man" or "mankind" ("adam").

The character Count Iblis in the 1978 series was inspired by the name for Satan (Iblis) in Islamic mythology.

In the 1978 pilot episode, the president of the Colonies referenced that they were "approaching the seventh millennium of time." Some Bible scholars assert the seven days of creation described in the Book of Genesis occurred in the fourth millennium B.C. If the universe began then, the 21st century would have marked the seventh millennium.

Less apparent are references to the theology of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (more commonly known as the Mormon church). Original series producer Glen Larson is a member of this religion. Parallels include:

* Central to the plot of the series is a legendary thirteenth colony, somewhere far distant from the twelve that are known. In Mormonism, there is no doctrinal or cultural reference to a 'Thirteenth Tribe'. But there are some parallels that may have inspired this 'Thirteenth Tribe' idea:
o In the Tanakh, Yisra'el had twelve sons. Yosef received a double inheritance and the Tribe of Yosef was split into the tribes of Efraym and M'nashe. When Moshe led them from Egypt back to the Promised Land, they are divided into thirteen divisions (but only twelve tribes for purposes of inheritance---due to their service in the Temple, the Tribe of Levi received no inheritence).

Other references include:

* The pagan gods predominantly worshipped by the people of the colonies, the twelve Lords of Kobol, appear to mirror the Twelve Olympians of Greek Mythology (the twelve principal gods in the Greek pantheon). OMG this episode was crazy... I can't believe who the final 5 are. Colonel Tigh must have been like wtf!!, and he killed his wife cuz she was a cylon colaberator. He must feel like chit now. The mechanic guy also must feel like the biggest dumb shit after he gave sharon all that crap for being a cylon now hes one too. I wasn't surprised to see starbuck at the end, its obvious she was a cylon from watching the other episodes. Most unbelievable thing is we have to wait 9 months before the next season.

The extended episodes will essentially go back and tell a story about the Pegasus. We'll deal with events in the past that we've never shown before, but those two eps will also set up some things that will pay off in the fourth season.

"Over the course of the last year, the story and the characters have been moving strongly toward that end, and we've decided to listen to those internal voices and conclude the show on our own terms. In November, a special two-hour Battlestar episode, "Razor," will air. The fourth season kicks off in early 2008.

I read online that Ron Moore said it cant be anyone in the 'last supper' picture from the beginning of season 4.0 so that rules out roslin, the adama's, starbuck, and baltar.

yea. she did die before the hub was broken but who's to say that they had extra bodies of the final 5 in that hub?

i just was rewatching the episode in the first season where ellen comes in cause my gf just started watching the show from the mini-series on (and is of course hooked :laughing: ) and the writers do hint that ellen is a cylon.
When Adama has her test run in Baltar's cylon detection machine, the 6 in Baltar's head asks Baltar what her test results were. His response was, "I'll never tell." So maybe then he figured out she was a Cylon? :dontknow:

Into science fiction but I loathe the Sci-Fi channel with it's majority of cheap and quarky sci-fi. However, Battlestar Galactica is the clear exception. It's definately one of the most well made and thought out shows in the last 5 years. The woman, especially number 6(Tricia Helfer) is :giggity:.

I'd give it another shot.
Personally I like both Stargate series and BSG and I think BSG is farrrr better than either Stargate series. It is well written, better special effects and cg scenes, more realistic (no aliens, no phasers, no transporters) and involves real world issues (terrorism, religion, democracy vs. military rule, etc). Just a great show with a great storyline and a multitude of plot twists to keep you hooked through season 4.5.

Its supposed to be set back when Admiral Adama is a kid so there's no way the number 8s would be in it. But I'm sure there will be plenty of other eye candy in the show. BSG doesnt let us down in that area.
