I have noticed that the offroad capabilites of the Ridgeline kind of suck, my parents have one. For what its worth, I don't think that my tacoma would make it out of there either but I probably can enter the mud with much more speed.

that was the problem. There was no "running room" before i hit that. Besides, i think i actually got it stuck in reverse...heh. That path is too narrow to turn around, so once i got in there i said "uh oh, now wtf do i do" I put it in reverse and pinned it, started fine til i realized the vsa was on. Once the wheels started spinning and spitting mud everywhere, the VSA kicked in, cut power to the spinning wheels....which were all 4, and i just sunk in up to the door jam. But further to your point, yes, the RL isn't the most capable offroad vehicle

nope, i have a house and 400 acres of land in catskill ny. My bro and I, along w/ the first & 3rd posters in here, cut back a big track for the atv's. It's wide enough to fit a truck in, but not wide enough to turn around. I was actually ripping around the track on the quad, then came across the mud bog. I figured since the quad made it through with ease, the ridgeline would too. WRONG! 6000lbs sinks fast.

did you turn the VSA off and hit the VTM-4 lock?? My boss got his stuck in some deep soft sand with the VSA on. When I went out and told the dumbass to turn the VSA off and lock the VTM it pulled right out. If you don't do those things the truck still thinks you're on a wet road and minimizes wheelspin. From my experiences and my customers experiences when you do those things they are pretty capable. Anytime I sell one that's one of the first things I tell them, otherwise you will get stuck in say.......sand. lol

My dad drives an 02 4runner 4WD and it would not have made it through that on stock tires either. What kind of Jeep are you talking about? A wrangler is about the only Jeep that has any better off-road capabilities than any other SUV.

well here's one way to ruin a truck. I don't think it's ment for deliberate mud running. I mean, no matter what truck you have, you can still find a huge ass mud bog to fuck the truck up. I guess you found the one for the ridgeline. :shakehead

I didn't turn the VSA off when i got stuck, which is why i got stuck. The wheels were spinning and it cut power to all of them, making me sink like a rock. I then turned it off, locked the rear diff. and still couldn't get out. These pics were also taken before I made a couple more attempts to get out. It was actually worse at one point than what you see.

what's the difference between the two RL's? Why the trade in George?

They sold me a lemon basically. The only diff. btwn the 06/07 is that they offered some additional color choices. I'm gonna prolly go with nimbus grey which is like a gunmetal color. I'm sick of shit going wrong w/ my 06. Certain build dates were plagued with problems and mine was no exception. The later build dates of the 07's have a much lower rate of repair so far, which is why i'm trading it in.

For the guy who asked what motor it has, it's the J35 motor. It's a single cam v6 making 247hp 245tq...at least for 07. Last yr. i believe it was 252/250

Before I go any further I just want to say that street racing is a bad idea and nobody should ever do it.

So one day I was behind a Camaro in my parents' Honda Pilot and we were going around a few turns, playing around a little... Well, one thing got to another and I decided that I could head the Camaro off at the pass if I cut through a parking lot, drove across some field, and came back onto the road. Needless to say the Pilot made it through without any damage and I won.

I don't think my RSX could've handled the off-road fun... :(

Yah, my old cj5 has the original 304 v8 with only 48,000 miles. It has a 4inch lift, some 33x12.5x15 bfgs, a few other goodies and an awsome 10k lb. super winch on the front. I have not gotten stuck yet, although the winch had to help me out of some tight spots. And I have pulled out more toyotas, chevys and fords than I can even count.:giggitygiggity:

lol

I dislike the Ridgeline... engine too small, not real 4x4 capability, tiny bed, bad visibility.

I was reading a magazine and the testers blew all four shocks in a short offroad course in a Ridgeline.... a course that was literally a bumpy dirt road.

Then they said something to the effect of Honda's inexperience with trucks and the fact that a Toyota or Nissan would have no problem.

(of course, no need to mention a jeep)

I'm curious as to why you like the ridgeline? I'm not trying to diss you, but what do you see in it? I can think of many superior alternative vehicles for example Nissan Frontier, Toyota Tacoma/Tundra, Chevy Silverado...

I think he's looking for a SUV/TRUCK hybrid, so he might be looking at a Frontier. The RL and Frontier look alike. Why is the Frontier better?

Also, the silverado is a pure truck.

The Frontier is a real truck, not a truck hybrid. And thats exactly why it is better. Truck/SUV hybrids aren't great at either role.. mediocre at best.

Stock height, stock street tires dont belong off road in the mud. Honda should stick to making cars, leave the 4x4 trucks to Toyota since they obvisouly dominate off road and have a history for doing it right.

competition by Honda will force other companies to create better products to retain market share. So, I welcome Honda to trucks even if they fail. It can only improve the survivors

the ridgeline is fine for what i need. I hunt and fish a lot so i needed something bigger than the rsx with 4wd. The ridgeline RTL is pimp on the inside so it's good for road trips. Basically i wanted something nice that can go through snow, the beach, light to moderate off roading and can tow a small boat. It rides much better than any other truck I drove and like i said, the interior just blows away every other truck out there. I don't need a gas guzzling v8 b/c it's my dd

Once the wheels started spinning and spitting mud everywhere, the VSA kicked in, cut power to the spinning wheels....which were all 4, and i just sunk in up to the door jam.
