I'm a big fan of NIN, their live shows are among the best out there! so for any other fans out there just wanted to let you know they have a new DVD(in HD&blu-ray) coming out the 27th of this month which should be good(beside you in time)...and they have announced a new album(year zero) releasing april 17th!
Update: video posted scroll down to find the link
I say NiN in concert last year.
Or rather I was there, and I remember like 1-2 songs.. I was so fucking hammered I thought I was gonna die.

first concert I ever saw was Prick / NiN / David Bowie at Madison Sq. Garden.
I won tickets through Z100 in NYC. I was 13.
It was awesome.
I was hooked before, I was even more hooked after the show.

Cant wait for the DVD and Year Zero- Im in the process of getting a DTS setup for it.
Seen them 6 times. First show was in 1995 with Prick, Pop Will Eat Itself, and the Jim Rose Circus. Good times.

^haha...nice! I didn't like "with teeth" when I first heard it becuz it was just very different than any of their previous albums but it really grew on me and it is now one of my favorite albums(especially the bass when it kicks in) I can't wait for the new album, i'm sure it will be diffrent!haha...I went to a concert last year and it was awesome, can't wait for them to return to the states!

I would like to see them in concert but it's not on top of my list. I'm a big fan of NIN because of Reznor, and because he does the entire studio albums. The live acts are actually considered a totally "seperate" division of the musical production. Was it pretty different or relatively similar to the albums when you guys heard it live?

Its very different, there is a lot of improv and things changed in most of the tracks. Its unlike any other concert you will ever see. Especially the visualizations for the show.... sick.

well being 13, i didnt know what to expect, but it was fucking crazy
guy infront of us ripped a seat cushion off and threw it into the mosh pit.
and then i saw a guy crowd surfing...then I saw his legs straight into the air, and then he was gone.
found out later that there was someone who went to the hospital that night with a neck injury. we think it was that guy.
but the show was off the hook. everyone came for NiN. when Bowie got on, some started clearing out. But they did "I'm afraid of Americans" as an encore and it was the best.
i saw NIN in 1995 at Nassau Coliseum 2 days after getting my wisdom teeth out. I took my sister and a few of her asshat friends.
From what I remember, the music was close the album. The album at the time was The Downward Spiral.
ps: Nin is on myspace for those of you who have a page.

I meant sick in a good way. The rotting animals were for Hurt (http://youtube.com/watch?v=tgSWRicWIy4) which was great. But the visuals from this tour blow 1995's out the water. I highly recommend catching them again on the next leg after the new album comes out.

I've seen NIN 4 times, once on the Downward Spiral ('95) tour and 3 times on the With Teeth tours:
@ The Tabernacle (ATL GA) - ~2500 seat theater, intimate surroundings with a passionate crowd, set highlighted the newest material with a very organic sound. The sound was just incredibly tight! Their engineer deserved a raise.
@ Phillips Arena (ATL GA) - ~18,000 seat coliseum; loud, violent and hostile crowd; very aggressive set of new/old HARD mix by the band. My least favorite show.
@ Oak Mountain Ampitheater (BHM AL) - ~6000 seat shed; the most operatic, restrained and balanced show. Really showed what is lost in the chaos of the larger shows (though I do enjoy the chaos as well).
Reznor's music and shows are much better since he's gotten sober. I'm looking forward to the new material.

Saw that show in D.C. during my senior year of high school. Lots of people came late and left early to miss Prick/Bowie and just see NIN.
But that just meant my friends and I were able to clamor up into the pit from our seats way in the back.:run: Show rocked.

I saw NIN in 1994 in Atlanta when I was in high school. Marylin Manson was the opener. I remember no one had really heard of MM yet and there was a small group of fans wearing t-shirts that said "I am the God of Fuck" on the back passing out stickers for them. They came on stage to that song that Willie Wonka sings when they're all in the boat with all the psychadelic stuff going on. I thought they sucked personally.
NIN was bad-ass.

I remember seeing Manson on the floor of the NIN show in 95. I had bought Portrait of an American Family earlier that day. He looked like a total douche without his makeup. But I have to say seeing Manson headline a concert was quite an experience... up in the top 5 best shows Ive seen.

DURING his big old – and brilliant – whinge to Hit last week, Trent Reznor also managed to squeeze in a bit about Nine Inch Nails' music.
Reznor positioned the new NIN album, Year Zero, as the first in a trilogy, but says he has been sidetracked from the second instalment.
"I wrote myself into a corner because I saw Year Zero as part one of something," he says.
"But some interesting things have come up in terms of turning this into another format of entertainment, like a television show or a movie. I've had some meetings with A-list people I'm interested in possibly working with.
"But it interjects a narrative into it that, if this is all going to make sense, it affects the second musical part of it. Or not. It depends on how closely I want the puzzle to go.
"I haven't written any new music for this yet, I literally haven't had a second to do that. That's what I'm doing when I get home. But I don't expect it to sound like Year Zero did. It won't be another 15 songs from that same vibe."
Nine Inch Nails return to Sydney in September to play rescheduled shows, postponed due to illness. No word yet on whether they will add Melbourne dates.

what do you think of Cash's redo of 'Hurt'?
I thought it was good. But NiN version > *
Trent said that after Cash remade it, he feels that it's not his song anymore.

I admit I get a kick out of hearing a NIN song in a tv / movie. I think one of my favorites was the intro to the movie Seven.

Whatever happened to Prick? Their first album was great, their second was trash (im pretty sure trent didnt have his hands in that one though)....Or even Pop Will Eat Itself if you remember them on Nothing around the same time as Prick.

08 October 2007: Big News
Hello everyone. I've waited a LONG time to be able to make the
following announcement: as of right now Nine Inch Nails is a totally
free agent, free of any recording contract with any label. I have
been under recording contracts for 18 years and have watched the
business radically mutate from one thing to something inherently very
different and it gives me great pleasure to be able to finally have a
direct relationship with the audience as I see fit and appropriate.
Look for some announcements in the near future regarding 2008.
Exciting times, indeed.

10 October 2007: everything you wanted to know about Y34RZ3R0R3MIX3D but were afraid to ask
http://yearzero.nin.com/remix/halo25_cover.jpg
Here's some information on Y34RZ3R0R3MIX3D.
We are releasing it on Interscope Nov 20th through the traditional retail outlets. There are three different formats:
DIGITAL DOWNLOAD
iTunes, I assume Amazon's MP3 store (I'm the last to know about these things) and maybe others. This should be priced "regular", whatever that now means.
track listing for these:
1. gunshots by computer: saul williams
2. the great destroyer: modwheelmood
3. my violent heart: pirate robot midget
4. the beginning of the end: ladytron
5. survivalism: saul williams
6. capital g: epworth phones
7. vessel: bill laswell
8. the warning: stefan goodchild featuring doudou n’diaye rose
9. meet your master: the faint
10. god given: stephen morris & gillian gilbert
11. me, i’m not: olof dreijer
12. another version of the truth: kronos & enrique gonzalez müller
13. in this twilight: fennesz
14. zero sum: stephen morris & gillian gilbert
VINYL
A nice package with three discs. Good quality vinyl, blah blah blah - really it's just cool. The package is a six-panel gatefold vinyl jacket to match Year Zero along with an insert.
track listing for this configuration:
Side 1
1. gunshots by computer: saul williams
2. the great destroyer: modwheelmood
3. my violent heart: pirate robot midget
4. the beginning of the end: ladytron
5. capital g: epworth phones
Side 2
1. the warning: stefan goodchild featuring doudou n’diaye rose
2. meet your master: the faint
3. god given: stephen morris & gillian gilbert
4. vessel [mix 1]: bill laswell
Side 3
1. capital g: switch
2. me, I’m not: olof dreijer
Side 4
1. the good soldier: sam fog
2. vessel [mix 2]: bill laswell
Side 5
1. capital g: ladytron
2. another version of the truth: kronos & enrique gonzalez müller
3. in this twilight: fennesz
4. zero sum: stephen morris & gillian gilbert
(no Side 6)
PHYSICAL CD / DVD ROM
This costs a bit more than "regular" and contains a CD that has exactly the same track listing as it's DIGITAL DOWNLOAD counterpart (see above). The package is a six-panel digipak to match Year Zero along with an insert. It also contains a DVD ROM (not a movie) that contains every track from Year Zero in multitrack format for you to do with what you please. Mac or PC.
We've included:
Pre-formatted for Apple GarageBand
Pre-formatted for Ableton Live (Mac or PC)
Demo version of Ableton Live (Mac or PC)
Generic WAVE files at 16 bit 44K that can be loaded into any audio editor
I can make this easy for you: if you just want to hear the tracks as cheaply as possible, get it digitally. The highest fidelity will likely be Amazon (through legal means).
If you want something that's aesthetically cool and will enhance any collection, get the vinyl. Trust me, it looks great. The extra tracks are fairly minor embellishments to the whole (and surely someone will upload them instantly).
If you want higher quality tracks legally, a nice package AND a complete multitrack of the whole record, get the physical CD / DVD ROM.
**insert comment from NINSUX: "I thought he said all the multitracks were going to be posted online, now he wants us to PAY for them??"
Relax, friend. One second after this package goes to the manufacturing plant someone will kindly upload those missing multitracks and everything will be OK. If they don't soon enough for your liking, just yell loudly out the window and I'll do it myself.
As for the record itself, I'm very pleased with the way it turned out. Remix records can be disposable garbage (of which I myself have been guilty of to some extent) but this collection feels good to me. I reached out to heroes, friends and strangers. I encouraged those I approached to do anything and insert themselves as much as possible into the track. Some of the stuff that was done earlier led me to choosing other people to balance things out. The Pirate Robot Midget mix is a fan's work - I thought it was great, it filled a need and I asked permission to use it here.
It's always interesting for me to hear my work reinterpreted - I hope it is for you as well.
Upon the release of this, we will be launching the first portion of the new nin.com at
remix.nin.com
We have been working on this quite a while now and I think you'll like it. It will begin as a home for listening to, sorting through, discussing and uploading remixes the community has made. Hopefully it will be as elegant, useful and fun to use as we envision.

13 March 2008: film festival
Hello-
First of all, a sincere THANK YOU for the response to Ghosts. We are all amazed at the reaction for what we assumed would be a quiet curiosity in the NIN catalog. My faith in all of you has been restored - let's all go have coffee somewhere (my treat)!
Today we announce the expansion of the Ghosts project into the visual world. This record began as an experiment with us using sound as a means to describe visuals. Early in the project we thought it would be interesting to see what the community could create / collaborate on as a reaction to the music we were making. We wanted to keep the canvas as blank as possible for you, hence the lack of descriptive song titles and the primarily textural artwork and packaging.
So here's the plan: we've teamed up with YouTube to host a "film festival" around Ghosts. The concept is for you to take whatever tracks you feel inspired by from Ghosts and create what you feel should accompany them visually. You will be able to see all of the submissions, and a team of us (including me) will be sorting through them and setting aside ones we feel are exceptional. Eventually (within a couple of months?) we will present a virtual "film festival" with me and some special guests presenting selections of your work.
This isn't a contest and you don't win elaborate prizes - it's meant to be an experiment in collaboration and a chance for us to interact beyond the typical one-way artist-to-fan relationship. We've discussed some interesting ways this could go, including multiple installments of the online "film festivals," to broadcast TV specials, to a one-time live performance of the entire Ghosts record with your visuals involved. It really depends on how this progresses and develops.
We are all very much looking forward to what you come up with, and hope you enjoy the experience. Visit our YouTube channel for information on how to participate.

Also got an email with the ticket sale info:
Nine Inch Nails is touring the US and Canada this summer. Premium tickets for all NIN headline dates will be made available to registered nin.com members in advance of public on sales. Pre sale tickets are personalized with the members legal name printed on the face of the ticket and ID will be required for pickup and entry into the venue on night of show. Pre sale ticket supplies are limited and available on a first come, first serve basis. Our goal is to put the best tickets in the hands of the fans and not in the hands of scalpers and/or brokers. Register at nin.com and check the performance page for additional tour updates.
