VW is phasing out the bug (rumors). So VW didn't want to license out the BUG design to the movie producers. So , Chevy stepped up.

Remember, they have to pay a license to use car designs within the film. So if a car manufacturer doesn't wnat you to use their design, then you can't. So, VW is going to lose out; much the same way Mattel screwed up with Toy Story, which is why Barbie made an appearance in Toy Story 2.

well, Magnus was "white" with the blue and red armor over him, technically. when he was first introduced as a toy back in the 80's everyone referred to him as the "White Optimus Prime". Till we saw that his complete "looK" included the red/blue armor. However, it wasn't "portrayed' in the cartoon, but originally, his 'inner white form' was to be used with out the armor as well, but writers for the series thought that this would confuse the audience.

I had the original Magnus tranformer, he was one of those cargo trucks for new cars. And the majority of him was blue.

Anyhowss....wtf its not supposed to be the energon cube...it should be a fight for the matrix (thats what gives Optimus his power)....there should be an abundance of energon cubes...since thats what they manufacture from earths resources (oil) to create their own fuel.

If its after some single item called the energon cube...then thats a little fucked up.

why would they make it all about the matrix? that's safely hidden away inside OPtimus, so its protected.

As fro the Energon cube, it makes a little more sense that something like an energon cube is priceless. It could also mean that the transformers haven't found a way of converting earth's resources to useable energy form yet. So this "one" energon cube could be a "life saver" type of thing

however, this is a preliminary rough summary of the movie. There is no confirmation that its going to follow that plot.

Well the person who controls the matrix shares its power. So ultimately Magatron would want the Matrix to rule the galaxy. He has always wanted the Matrix. Is is the most prescious item in the Transformers.

As such an advanced race, forming energon cubes should be easy...so its silly that they are fighting over one. If should be that the Decepticons plan to suck an essential human energy source dry in order to get back to doing what they do best. And the Autobots stop them.

I'm old enough to remember him well LOL. The toy was a lot fucking cooler than the optimus prime toy. He didn't look quite like that though. His trailer was blue if I remember correctly and turned into a giant body for him. Other really cool ones were Omega Supreme, Metroplex, and Six Shot. I always liked the Shockwave toy too... Wish I still had all those I'm sure they are worth some decent money now...

This guy is new...apparently he sends an EMP style blast to disable electronics (so the decepticons cant be detected). I have a feeling this guy is replacing soundwave which is sad, because I loved shockwave. On the plus side, this guy does look amazing.

I can agree to that.

They KNOW there is really no reason to change the look of the Transformers, except that they probably think it's cool to make em edgy looking or some crap. I can't think of any reason to change, say, Optimus, because his look is timeless. Maybe minor changes but I dont see the need for a major overhaul...as a whole the Transformers look too skinny.

It just pisses off the original fans for no real reason.

Regardless, I know I'm going to see this movie and I know I'll more than likely love it. But, they could at least pay homage to the old die-hard fans of the series, but that's such a rarity with movies nowadays.

And regarding the comment about "fresh new look"...there have been so many reiterations of the Transformer series, that if they were made to look like the original, it'd actually BE a fairly fresh new look :p

Regardless, I know I'm going to see this movie and I know I'll more than likely love it. But, they could at least pay homage to the old die-hard fans of the series, but that's such a rarity with movies nowadays.

Tell you guys the truth, I am dissapointed about all the changes they made to the transformers. I mean its far from being anywhere near the original story.
