I was wondering how exactly this starter works? Is it worth it? And how the install is? I want this for my next mod, but I want to reinforce my decision with some respectable opinions. Also, I've read that you would have to sacrifice cruise control for the button?

Thanks

you don't have to sacrifice cruise control. You just lose the cruise control button. What you do is leave it on, and put it inside.

someone else can talk about exactly how it works and how to install, because i'm not an expert on that.

I bought my RSX preowned and it came with a start button pre-modded into the hole where the cigarette-lighter/power should have been. Went in there to run some amp wires and rolled my eyes at the lump of hot glue I found keeping the thing in.

It's kind of... underwhelming. I've had a few ooohs and aaahs from people, but since I still have to turn the key to unlock the steering column, I personally find it edging towards pointless.

Not to rain on your parade on anything, since it's your car and kind of neat- just giving my $0.02.

S2000 Starter button will work like OEM DC5 Type R starter button (or current Civic Type R starter button). Basically bling as it's not keyless go.

Looks good though! Here's mine:

the time it takes to turn the key with one hand while pushing it with the other is approximately if not the same as it takes to turn the key and crank it. just for bling

I have mine where my hazard button is, cause, I never use my hazards. It fits perfectly.

You simply need to put your car in II and hold the button for a second, and it starts right up. I've had for like a year or so.

You can hook it up where you can either still be able to start the car by turning the key, or if you cut the wire, you can't. I have mine where you can't... took the vallet 15 minutes to figure it out.

They;re pretty sweet though, makes you look like a pimp.

They;re pretty sweet though, makes you look like a pimp.I don't see how. It started normally before without having to modify or lose any buttons.

Now it starts up in the same time, have to put hand in 2 places instead of just keeping it in 1st place, and lost either cruise control button or hazard button.

Doesn't seem worth the time to me unless the ignition thing itself went out behind the column and the button was a cheaper alternative to getting a new ignition key piece thing.

you can hook it up so it turns on without the key but you will need to get pass the imobilizer.

I am pretty sure there have been a couple threads about this (including and install/DIY I believe).

Try searching, you may find more useful information.

cant you bypass the imobilizer? i mean after market alarms bypass the imobilizer right (maybe im wrong)?

i am with everyone else...if you need the key and the button, and you cant bypass the imobilizer its gay.

but...if you have an aftermarket alarm, bypass the imobilizer, and make it start without the key...then it would be sweet.

yes...but that would make it so much easier for someone to steal your car.

I don't know... anyone who has seen it on my car has loved it. They think its really cool I press a button instead of cranking with the key... the fact that it takes like 1/2 second more to start my car isn't really an issue.
