mods on the mustang?
its pretty old..so unless he keeps it in pristine condition its probably running like a POS.
im sure even a 1980's v8 mustang would run like shit if not properly taken care of.
i say edge to you if its in POS condition
whit all those Headers your gona smoke him for sure lol
check what mods he have so you dont loose your money

hmm i believe the early 80s mustangs were either 4 bangers or v8's so if its a 4 cylinder it will be piss slow

wait why the fuck do you have 2 inch custom piping. thats smaller than stock and you obviously have a limited edition RSX-S since you have more than one header (seems like you have 421 of them)

My 90 with a 316 stroker .040 over and the best of everything could run mid 10s. Of course I also had my car down to about #2500. :) I would put his friends car at the high 10s best case.

Hey guys, I need your help. I'm running a 1980 Mustang for money.
I don't know if it's a V6 or a V8, but I have a Type-S and it has a cold air intake, DC 4-2-1 ceramic header, 2" custom exhaust piping, 2-1/2" 5Zigen axleback, NRG grounding kit, and a Hondata reflash. My car is fully stripped.
What do you guys think?

My fox requires more attention than my fiancee. And she's jealous of it. Calls it the other woman. However, she knows she'll get launched before the car. It's getting close to being done tho. At least until I split the bottom end and have to build a 347 with a boss block.

haha, that's funny cuz my GF says the same damn thing about my RSX. LoL
That'll be a beast setup I'm sure. I'm out of the game with muscle cars, I don't know much about anything with 'em anymore. All I know is what I dealt with on my two fox's. *Sigh* Problem after problem. Mostly electrical though. Hah.

I want to get a solid tune before I mess with a bottom end. The TwEECer is pretty impressive, but you can change way too many things. On the stock bottom end, I'm hoping for low 11's and will be ok with mid-high 11's on 12-15 lbs of boost.
Orangekeebler, that sounds like where I want to be by the end of next year.
depends on the mods of the mustang. i see those body style mustangs do wheelies 1/4 length down the track everytime i visit the strip. (yes.. they were street cars)

Yep. My car went 1800 miles this year so it really doesn't matter about street manners. Here's a pic of the car before the new rims/top.

The fact that he's willing to bet 300 on this race means he's either stupid or he's got a 351 in there. those cars are light as hell, and you can find a 351w for dirt cheap since ford put those into a shitload of trucks, boats, and vans since the 60s. Hell he doesn't even need a 351, you can get a 302 HO for just as cheap, those motors are weak stock since they were smogged to shit but just slapping a set of heads and an intake manifold on it will get it some serious power. Good luck trying to find an early 80s fox mustang with the original motor, especially if the guy races. If you hear a lopey idle, drive away and don't waste your money.
I can't wait to get another fox, too bad i live in buffalo and the snow owns RWD V8s...had to sell mine :(
And as far as people saying that they need constant repairs, parts are dirt cheap and it's the easiest to work on car i've ever owned. The only thing that really sucks on them is the trannys, T5s are known to leak and grind, and the AOD is absolutely shit...that's why i went C4 :)
