Base RSX manual vs Base Tiptronic [Archive]

I'm just curious how fast the tiptronic are. Haven't drive one and from what i know all u have to do is push up to shift gears....Which is faster??

The gearing on the base automatic is actually worse than the base manual. Even more ontop of that, the base automatic has a greater percentage of power loss through the drivetrain. And to add to that the base automatic is not easily modified through getting it a new ECU (Kpro) and you have to piggyback the entire system.

The base manual is by far the better choice, unless you're not looking for anything but a daily driver or grocery getter just a car where you care about modifying it on the outside. I've owned a base auto and it still handled decently and wasn't too slow, but it's definitely slower and harder to modify than the base manual.

isnt the base auto whp like 125 or 130, im pretty sure it lose a good amount of hp from 155 cuz its auto and not manual

sport shift doesnt help increase hp, if that was ur question. it only help in accel and upshift/downshift faster

I would believe a manual (in the hands of a capable driver) would shift way faster than the automatic. I mean, I realize that full throttle shifts are not good for the tranny, but in the case of a drag race, the manual tranny can launch better and then out shift the automatic.

That being said, if you are interesting in modding later down the road, it may be easier to simply get the manual version, as it will waste less power. But, if you are using the rsx in traffic heavy areas, or are happy with stock performance, stick with the automatic.

I say test drive both and see what makes you happier.

I have a base 5 speed with KPro, I know a guy at my school who just got a base auto... should run him.

Too bad I can't drive for shit.

I just don't want to ride the clutch off the start so I don't spin the wheels.... but I'll do what I have to to win.
