DC5 vs. Bustang GT

Well I was at work today when i noticed 03-04 Mustang GT pull into the parking lot. As i noticed to see who the person was i noticed it was one of my co-worker's buddy. When i saw he had a Tony Romo jersey i yelled out "RRRRRRomo" . Me being a Cowboy fan i had to. Well 5 minutes of him hanging around i overheard him say he beat Pro-Motion's RSX they have. As soon he said that everyone looked at me to see if i would have a reaction to what he said since i am an owner of a Type S and know the guys from Pro-Motion. I didn't get to reply when of my co-workers said "why don't you run him?" referring to me. He said sure and i said why not.

So still on the clock i proceeded to jump into my car and start it and let it warm up a bit. I took a look at his Bustang and i noticed he had Cobra rims and a cowl induction hood. I thought to myself hmmmm. He started his car and took off so he could warm up his tires ala burnouts and i proceeded to follow him, mind you my car wasn't warmed up yet.

So we decided to start from the light in the highway in front of where i work so everyone there would see the race. The light turned green and we both launched and we both spun first but i spun bad and he had the launch and there was no chance for me to catch up since a minivan cut in front of me. So i gave him that race in a way. Half the guys i work with are Honda guys and the other half are muscle guys. The honda guys were like what happened? and the other half were yelling in excitement but the race wasn't over and i signaled to everyone that the guy in the GT is going down.

So we drove back to the same light and waited for the green light. But this time when the light turned green i timed the launch perfect, didn't spin and took off beat the GT by 2 and half cars. He called it quits after that. As we pulled into my job's parking lot everyone was jumping and esctactic bout the race. All i heard was "Mustang's are junk!!" from some of guys and the muscle guys were all heartbroken. It brought a smile to my face when i shut them up. I asked the guy what he had done and he said intake, exhaust and clutch. Now i don't know where that would put it in HP numbers but someone said close to 300. Now i only have 221 whp. Good race tho.

the 03-04 model usually put down about 225-230WHP. So he probably added like 5-10WHP with Intake and exhaust.

2so lets say 240WHP vs your 221WHP with you having the weight advantage and him having the Drive train advantage.

3241lbs +240WHP=13.50lbs per ratio

VS

2767lbs +221WHP=12.52lbs per ratio.

So it does kind of make sense!! But i would rather believe him getting you from a dig, not the other way around:thumbsup:

you would think but i timed it perfect on the dig. I practice alot so i can get a good jump when i do race. I even had a better launch on an evo8 one time and beat it in the distance we had to run to a merge. He eventually got his revenge months later tho.

What is the Pro-Motion car running now? My Mach has been on their dyno for their dyno days. A Honda owner there with a turbo RSX was talking shit about my Mach when it was on the dyno. My girlfriend at the time called his ass out in HER car which is an 11 second TA. He bitched out. I'd love to see him now. I was NA then and still had my manual trans, but I'm sure I'd still have taken him.

Physics.

simplistic answer is:

Weight transfer is why RWD > FWD from a dig. When you go WOT a ton of weight shifts from the front of the car to the back, this is what causes fwd cars to have more wheel spin because the weight above the front drive wheels is removed.

Now with a RWD car, when the weight shifts, it moves to the rear of the car putting more pressure on the tires helping to give more friction/grip.

Not to mention RWD cars get to use big fat tires out back because the rear wheels don't have to pivot in both directions for turning.

well today after work i was behind a TRD X-Runner that i'm so into. It drives by my job every night sporting the HID's and raiders color on the truck. He noticed i was behind him at the light. So he started reving up his truck. When i noticed it i had on my foot on the gas with the e-brake on. I always do it before a race. So the light turns green and we're both turning left and as soon as he made the full turn he stomped and i followed a car and a half. We got the next light and sure we were in front. So as soon as the light turned green we both stomped it. I got ahead of him by a car and never left off. He eventually gave up since he wasn't able to catch up to me but what surprised me the most was i kept hearing a BOV during the race. I just never would have thought the X-runner would be turbo'd. I mean i see the truck almost every night. Good race tho.
