My acura service manager today told me NOT TO change to synthetic until 15,000 miles! I have heard lots of people on this board say they have switched at much lower mileage. The Acura service manager he says he has seen cars who switch too early use 2 quarts of oil between oil changes. He says the rings won't seat properly and to use regular oil until 15,000 miles.

I am not exactly anxious to start paying 3x as much for synthetic oil changes but I do want to switch over... I am just confused now as to when I should switch

If anyone has evidence to refute this... let's hear about it.

I have no evidence, but I say go for it and change it to synth. early. I will the next time I change my oil. BTW, since some people are leaking oil, can you mix synth. oil w/ non-synth.? I've been driving my car for 3000+ miles now and my oil levels seem fine, but I'd still like to know.

I wouldn't blend the two yourself...but you can buy blended oil.

castrol has one I think.

BTW once you switch to synthetic...do not switch back!!
