06 RSX Type S vs S197 Mustang GT and 94-98 Mustang GT...

Alright...First run was against this S197 body Mustang GT while I was crusing to meet some other guys down in San Diego on the 15.

I'm just cruisin and I casually pass this guy. He starts pacing just behind me. Then after a little while, he pulls ahead of me by about half a car. Then after a little while more, he floors it. Obviously, being the ricer that I am, I downshift and follow. Anyhow, he finally lets up and we slow down...I don't remember from what, but I was well into 6th and he had stopped pulling immediately as I downshifted. Anyhow. We line up and I'm in 4th at 75mph. Dude is middle aged and didn't honk off...he was just waiting...besides, I think he was going to let me dictate the race since I'm pretty sure he thought he was going to stomp me.

Both punched at about the same time, I had the slight jump. I pulled about a car and a half to two cars on him through 4th and 5th, from 75 to about 120 or so...

Second run was from 80 to I'm guessing around 135+, because I was well into 6th gear for a good long while before I shut down. Anyhow. This run he got the jump on me. He pulls about a half a car or so or more...whereupon, through 4th, was stopping him from pulling since he jumped me. 5th gear I pulled back even and began pulling away. Good run. Gave the guy thumbs up and he gave me the whole "Damn. Not too bad for a ricer" look and nod and he gave me thumbs up and a peace sign as we rolled away. This guy was stockish it appeared. Exhaust and an induction style looking hood. So yeah...stock probably.




Second run. I ran a mid-90's Mustang GT ricer with decals and a body kit trying to fuck with me on my way home last night. He paces me, and I'm sick of this dude's shit, so I rev match down and as soon as he hears me hit the gas to rev match he downs it. So I get in gear. He goes nowhere. I proceed to put buslengths on him. From 60-130. He hangs back and doesn't want to play anymore after that.

Not particularly. He may have had exhaust, but I wasn't really paying attention until after we had lined up. That and he has one of those hood scoop hoods. I don't know anything about the car, so I don't know if you can get those in stock trim or whatever or if they actually do anything.

Because I know where I redline at 5th at, and once I get into 6th gear, I'm not particularly paying attention that much anymore, since what I look at the most is the tachometer. I very may well have been going faster, though the last thing I remember was that I was at 130 and climbing when I looked down.

It would be performance oriented if it actually directed the air to the TB more efficiently instead of rerouting it all the way around the damn engine bay. If the car was carb'd and they put the piping at the back of the shaker and straight down to the carb, you better believe it would add some decent performance. Although people have now scientifically proven it does have a decent positive air pressure at 85 mph+

How much HP and TQ does the newer one have? I thot it was 220HP and similar TQ.

I would think a RSX with a few less HP, and a few hundred pounds less in weight would be able to take one in a straight line or possibly Auto-X as well. Weight dist isn't great on them.
