I think the Z will take out both the AWD cars. The 05's head is so limited on flow it couldn't pass a pussy fart wind. The STi runs similar times so it'll also get its ass handed to him. From a roll, the Z will pull pull pull and pull some more. The AWD cars have no fucking top end short of divine intervention while the VQ is a strong top end performer like all high performance NA motors.

I predict a driver's race between all 3 from a dig, but from a roll: Z, Evo, STi from first to fail.

Yes Car A is capable of XX times blah blah blah. It's really a matter of how many people can actually nail those times. I've run high 14s in the stock RSX-S after I got the launch down, but most 02-04 owners cannot replicate those times. Sure track prep, head wind, temp, humidity, they all play a large factor but it comes down to how well a particular driver can drive a particular car. When I first got my Evo, I was nailing down some incredible times; times that most people said couldn't be done with the mods I had. Sure I could drive an Evo to the absolute tenth, but most can't. Just like you're able to race your RSX better than, let's say your friend with a S2K if he was driving your car. Drivers play a huge factor when it comes to timeslips.

well IF the guy in the EVO can drive, he should win from a dig or a roll. if it were an 03-04 EVO i'd say he should get you from a dig, but from a roll you might get him. now if it were an EVO IX with a capable driver, no chance from a dig or a roll. i've beaten a lightly modded 03 Z (intake, exhaust, pulley i think is all he had at the time) by about 4 cars and still pullin when my EVO IX was bone stock (still had the temp tag in the window haha). the fastest time his Z had run at the time we raced was a 13.8. i've run a couple 07-08 Z's and i didn't beat them as bad, but it still wasn't close. i ran these from rolls. the first guy i ran, he took off when the light turned green and jumped by about 2 cars. i ran him down by the end of 3rd and started pulling away until we had to slow down for traffic. the only power mods i have on the car now are a dirty k&n filter, and an HKS catback. my fastest time at the track is in my sig. i'm going back when i get new tires and it's warmer so i can hook up. should be able to run 12.6. anyway, good luck with the races.

note: i didn't comment on the STi because i don't really have much experience with them. a buddy of mine has an 06 with tbe, intake, tune, and his best time so far is 12.9... so i dunno what they can do.

u would actually be suprised with how easy the Z's want to launch. im not saying ur wrong in that the sti and evo's are nuts fast in stock form. just that a stock Z can run pretty good times with even an average driver.

one of my buddies on this forum (has a cammed rsx), his dad has an 02 Z and when it was stock, the first time he ever drove it he ran a 14.1, he said it just shot out of the hole.

My Buddy Kevin went 13.1 in his Mach on his 2nd pass against me who barely beat him with a 13.0 on my 50th pass LOL I had a 1.973 60' and he had a 2.009 if I remember correctly.

So I bet those 350z times were probably made pretty early in their attemps with people who have 1/4 mile experience from previous cars.

after a week of waiting for some dry road we finnaly did it.
back here to report on the results. some of you might be let down, others not so much.

let me start off by saying that street racing is very dangerous. but i'm not dr. phil, so yes, i do it. sometimes, but not all the time. it's not like any of you guys have never done it anyway. we did this on this one abandoned airstrip. the guy who owns it used to teach flying lessons, but he has a mild stroke or heart attack or something, he's fine and all, but he dosen't teach flying anymore now. there are like airplane hangers and people use it to store there planes and some store cars. sweet little place.

so we set up at one end and race to the next, simple.

Z, EVO, STi. in that order.

when we first take off the EVO and STi get me on the launch (obviously), i didn't do too shabby myself though. they both get the lead. i can't tell who is ahead of who though cause i'm on the side and i was focused on nailing my launch and shifts.

pretty even through second gear, but i see that i'm pulling a little bit. :eek:

when third gear comes up, me and the EVO pull ahead of the STi.

fourth gear comes and me and the EVO are about 1-1 1/2 lengths ahead of the STi. so it's just me and EVO duking it out, though i see that i am pulling ever so slightly. :laughing:

when fifth gear rolls around i am already a bumper or so ahead of the EVO! :run:
and the STi is still behind, but i don't know by how much, i would guess 1-2 lengths, but i'm not sure.

so we shut down at around 135-140-ish. with me in the lead!!!

i don't know how long that strip is, but it's pretty damn long. (duh, it's for airplanes)

we only did one run, the EVO guy was pretty suprised by the top end of the Z. honestly, i was too. STi said that he fudged the launch a bit. eh whatev.

hope you enjoy, maybe this gave some of you some insight on the new HR engine in 350Z. they really are nothing to laugh at anymore. :noes:

Yes but the sheer number of Mustangs that do it says something about the platform for building them. A V8+solid axle is the best platform for drag cars, and as far as I know there aren't many other sports cars running 6's. What I'm trying to say is the Stang is an inexpensive car that already has a lot of great parts for drag racing from the factory, hence its popularity.
