me vs 06 350z

ok, my mods, aem cai, rbc mani, hytech 2.5 rh with custom 2.5 exhaust, kpro i/e/h kal. no tunes, and its 04 rsx-s full interior, thats only the "power" mod :o

his mods, 06 350z, jim wolf intake, lil hole on the bumper to make it "cold air" and axle back greddy exhaust

stop - i get beasty ass launch, and he spins out, about 110, i win by 1~1-1/2 car

couple days later we go on highway rolling at 55 and we are dead even until top of 4th and he have about 1/4 car on me

rolling at 30 he gets 1/4 car on me, and on my 3rd gear stretch i started gaining but had to shut off due to traffic.

so yea... it was fun hopefully i get it tuned and get it cammed by summer and slowly walk on his ass.

o and there's another mod that give the 350 and g35's a better power gain then the plenum spacer... he said it actually replaces the whole plenum and sri actually stretches all the way to the front of the bumper.. and that mod cost like 1g for it.

On a car that makes shit for torque, you need to lose as much weight as possible bub. 150lbs in your car is going to make a bit more of a difference than 150 pounds in his.

And I would think that you wouldn't be losing from the 55 mph roll with your mods. But then, I'm not too familiar with the 350's powerband...

Tunes are absolutely essential on modern imports. The ECU is one of the biggest limiting factors when it comes to making the most power from your car. It's one of the cheapest mods in terms of HP gains and the more mods you have, the more power you can get out from the car with a tune. Nice death btw. Next time, make it a kill. :thumbsup:

i kinda agree with vteceater's comment, driver of 350z is good friend of mine and its pretty sad... but i had couple disadvantages against me when we were racing on highway

1: tires brand "superguard" wtf is superguard? heard of it anybody?

2: weight diffence, car weight not counting... me, 240, my passenger 150 my 2 12" subs and 350z driver only weights like 170max

well i didnt lose, first race from the stop, i had a car and a half on him, we shut down at like 110, and other races from highway, it was from a roll, but he left first, and i was slowly gaining on him, plus i had a passenger. but from stop, i beat him by a car and a half

Axle back is just for sounds. No gains, probably a loss in torque.

yup, even though i felt very minimal gains with my plenum spacer. For the non revup motors, the mrev2 would be good if you had a tune..something like the UTEC. I think i'm done modding this Z with bolt ons. Just a waste of money. I'm going F/I soon.

Yeah, i told myself i wouldn't buy parts. but i'm already use to the linear powerband of the z.

yeah, most test pipes are pretty cheap, especially the non resonated ones. UTR are pretty nice though. Shouldn't have any rasp. My nismo exhaust would probably crack them though.

Crank pulley does very little to the Z. It seems to do more harm to the motor than to actually feel gains from mod.

If you are only doing bolt ons from the z, the only thing that can make hp/tq is plenum spacer and test pipes. Intake doesn't do anything. Crank pulley doesn't do anything. exhaust doesn't do anything. If you have a rev up motor, the mrev2 is good.

07 Z is different though.

The only other mod that is good without going F/I is getting gears.

you pretty much hit the nail on the head. If he was actually gaining that much carlengths, his quarter mile time would improve dramatically which it won't.
