I am an enthusiast... I am in on a team, so to speak, and we practice with our cars on a regular basis. We have an area we consider our "territory", where we practice. We even have trainees who are hopefuls to apply for the team Shinken (thats us lol). I have never entered a race until recently when one of our trainees a 21yo with a Scion xA, with an AEM CAI, and TRD exhaust, w/5 speed challenged another person to a race on our territory. This is against the rules and where we practice has a terrible road condition and its pitch black at night. So to prevent the trainee from possible danger, I challenged him to a day time race on our 'course'. My car named "Megami", is a stockport 83, GS with the LSD and transmission from a 85 GSLSE, the engine has a FC1000 ignition, a custom made from texalian wing, a full custom Racing Beat/GReddy exhaust, and a few other things here and there. To make it more a battle of skill rather then power, I added 160lbs to my car's weight, and capped my top RPM to 6000, which is lower then where the engine power peaks with that particular exhaust. I also let him lead, I followed him and watched his movements until I saw he oversteered and braked too much during turns. On the last uphill before the finish line, a truck blocked his way, since he couldnt see what was coming bc of the hill, I drafted then engien braked to see if someone was coming, then passed him before he could get into my lane to block me. The race covered a curvy 8.6mile course in 7:32.47. Afterwards, I told him where he needed to improve and what he should modify next on his xA. It was an interesting experience for me as well, considering it was my first race. Pic Related.

we'd go to a track, but Local tracks are only drag racing tracks filled with idiot muscle tuners.. IMO that power is wasted if you drive skillesly in a straight line. It forces us to practice on the streets, dangerous a little but we all have fun.

i used to have an '83 GS RX-7 as well; i had it crushed last month for dishonoring me (seriously). what ECU are you using? wolf? because theoretically, unless you're F/I, youre running the stock nikki carb, in which case 6k you should easily walk an Xa with a 2580lb car (factoring in the 160 lb addition) and SE tranny. you beat an Xa; thats like me saying i beat a Suburban with my base RSX; low to the ground sports car/sporty car vs econobox/SUV. based on your lower valence, you have an 84 or 84 Rex... i have an 84 GSL-SE and an 85 GSL-SE; not even the venerable Haichiroku can touch them on cornering.

3 words son; TURBO II SWAP. but nice pics and nice cars; heres a shot of my last 2 rotary rockets...

i would say something like .01 percent of people on these car enthusiast sites ever step foot on a road course, so to say that drifting is slower than grip racing is pointless, since so few people ever actually compete. same goes for 1/4 mile racing. the street is the only place to handle your business. i will give TS that.

Ya, I don't care where he races. i'm AGREEING with you that he shouldn't do it with traffic around. And actually it's been proven (not by anyone on CRSX) time and again that grip racers put down faster times on tracks than drift racers.

I'm just sayin, I'm not putting down drifting. Personally I'm find road course racing (grip) more exhilarating.

Next candidates for the Darwin Award, please raise your hands if you "drift" on hills and mountain roads. I would love to see you guys come to Cali and do the fast side of Palomar Mountain Road. I would even give you a headstart and let's see who makes it to the bottom (on the road, not falling down the cliff). Those that know PM know what I mean. Road is so twisty with 180 kickbacks and a drop in elevation from 4000 to 100 in about 1/2 mile.

the part about most people not actually racing is probably true, but to say that you need to handle your "business" on the street makes you sound like a true idiot, racing on the street is a terrible idea, empty streets late at night or not

Seriously you sound like the biggest loser in the world. I have no problem with you going out and blasting down some roads. There are safer ways to do it and a track would be the best place, but I'd be a hypocrite if I didn't say if I come across a nice road I'll push it. I even have a bunch of friends and we'll all go on spirited drives for fun. That I can see because it's fun. I live my life a quarter-pounder at a time. And for those 500 calories or more, im free.
I need FRIESSSS! Two of them. The big ones. Oh, and i need them tonight.
Youre lucky the double shot of BBQ sauce didnt blow a seam on your nugget box.
There she is, 2 pounds of pure beef. My dad ate it in 9.0 seconds flat.
Check it out, its like this. If i lose, winner takes my happy meal. But if i win, I take the burger and the toy. To some people, thats more important.

Wow this thread is funny. Seriously General Tso listen to yourself.

Our crew

guy in a lame ass xa broke the rules so you challenged him
our leader.

To make up stupid names for your "home course" and "defending your territory" and just taking it into as much depth as you guys have just is the dorkiest thing you could possibly do. Once you grow up mentally maybe you'll understand what I'm talking about.

I have taken my crew up against this crew that General Tso's Chicken speaks of. It was a long and dangerous battle with many section of loose rocks, dirt, and leaves on this mountain road. I am happy to say my car, which I have loving named "shit on ricers sugoii" handled like a true champ. From the underwater stages to the slippery rainbow roads made of Skittles, all of the cars my crew members have performed admirably.

One such race was our german leader's WRX. It went up against this S13 with a huge wing (for the downforce lulz!!! off ebay!!11!1!one!). The WRX was modded the night before to be RWD only for it was to be our main drift car. In the middle of the challenge, something went wrong and the WRX suddenly became a FWD! Fortunately German boy handled it like a fucking pro and supa soaked that hoooooooo. From the lightening quick e-brake action to the using of his middle finger to add variable valve timing to the motor, I was in awe of the beauty unfolding. We won the race, thanks to the S13 falling off the mountain.

The next race was to be a grip type match. I pulled my dainty Lancer Ralliart (lulz it's an Evo!!) up to the line. A white hachiroku pulled up and I was quite confused; the muthafucka had Fujiwara Tofu Shop written on the door. The driver rolled his window down and asked if I wanted any tofu. I was negotiating prices when the starter dropped his arms indicating the start of the race. He got the jump because it was all planned. I knew $5 for 10 bricks of tofu was too good to be true. Now I'm stuck eating rice without tofu because the bastards tried to rip me off. Back to the story. We had to cross a lake and luckily with my AWD, I was able to cross safely. Unfortunately for the hachi, it was RWD so it was fish tailing everywhere and I was able to catch up. I hit the ACD button on my dash and put my car in snow mode. That's when I was overcome with the sheer amount of acceleration as the car finally knew what mode it had to be in. Stupid me had it in Tarmac mode the entire time! Towards the end of the race, the hachi kept tailgating me so I brake checked his ass, hard. With my Brembos for the win, the hachi rear ended me. It took out his motor so he couldn't finish the race so I won by default. The bitch went off to call a tow truck and I grabbed his insurance info out of his glove box. Joke's on him because now his insurance is paying for my JDM bumper that'll add 20whp. I also stole a brick of tofu out of the trunk and put it under his seat. I hope he learns not to tail gate me when he opens his door and is welcomed by the smell of the rotting tofu.

So the RSX vs ALL crew beat team whatever the fuck you call it.
