Tsimage vs 18psi Round One

So me and Tsimage finally managed to meet up and race.
me - 07 wrx td05h 18g + supporting mods
him - talon gt35r + supporting mods?

Both cars were not running right for some reason. His is not completely tuned and running low (15psi?) boost. Mine was spooling really lazy and really weak at low rpm. later i logged it and for whatever reason its knocking badly below 3k rpm.
Therefore this is ROUND ONE, we will have round two when both cars are running correctly and its dry outside:vtec:

vids: keep in mind i have a SHITTY 100 dollar photo camera, therefore the quality of the vids is absolute crap, sorry...

first run - start off in 2nd both at low rpm about 30ish roll, shut down at about 100

second run - start off in 2nd again at about 40 and shut down about 110-120ish:

third run - we start off in 3rd dont remember speed and shut down mid 4th at around 95-100ish:

we decided to call it a night after the 3rd run, cause his car was really starting to act up and what not, and it was raining.....the rain is also the main reason we didnt get to go from a dig, cause even being awd there would be little to no traction.

To be honest, i really thought i would get shat on, i mean k'mon: its a gt35r:lostswimmer: but i guess im not as slow as i thought:w00t:
so till he gets retuned and turns up the boost, im a happy camper:laughing:
as soon as he does im toast:(

the car is spooling late with 0 knock sometimes and then sometimes it gets stuck at low psi makes very little boost and then pulls timing before spool up

outside of that if you stay in a racing range rpm that car is happy.

i have a feeling you are getting ben's mbc probably or your turbo gate loosened again (requires a tweak)

yeah, except for the fact that my car was running super good for like 4 months now since we initially tuned it. it started acting up when last week i took off the bov and put in a txs one for a couple days (borrowed from a friend). drove around and whooshed at everybody lol, and after going back to the stock bov the car is acting up like noones business:( it started to spool way late and not have nearly as much torque...
its all good, ill work it out in a couple days and we can do this again, this time my buddy with the srt4 will get in on the action as well as my buddy with the fpgren sti, another buddy on a 05 evo 8 mr, and maybe arcticblue on his pimpmobile........itl be like the fast and the furious:rotfl:

if i go any bigger, i will have tons of lag, and still wont be able to use the bigger turbo to even 3/4ths of its potential on this camel piss we call 91oct. id like to have minimal lag with maximum topend without worrying about stripping the teeth off my 1st and 2nd gears if i launch hard....

Those reflashes are weird sometimes. They like to pull ignition and stuff outanowhere. That sh*t would piss me off.

one day ur car is running good....the next it decides to pull 5 degrees of ignition and the car runs like snot.

My buddy with his MBC reflash would have issues with it pulling ignition. He wouldnt know till he raced people and got smoked by car that he sould have easily beat. Soon as he reflashed it.... Car was a monster again.

lol, thats funny.....first of all, its not an sti...2nd of all, it wasnt running right either.....and thirdly (AND MOST IMPORTANTLY) i never for a second thought that i would have a chance against a gt35r 4g63 at all, even on low boost, much less if it was running 30psi lol. turns out, my car was a little quicker than i thought, and his car was running really bad on low boost......

At 15psi tuned I woulda won.

We had an issue with my BOV being too loose and not letting me boost over 7 lbs. Of course I didn't have the right size Allen wrench so I tried to move it as much as possible but it still only let me hold 10-12psi all the while opening and making me run pig rich and run with 22 counts of knock for the first race, 28 for the second, and the last one was so high it registered as error and almost cut my ignition.

Id say vlad's car is a good mid 12s car just judging by how it performed. At 15psi I was running mid-low 12s so shitting on itself at about 12psi bogging like crap it held its own.

I'm sure we'll get a round 2 soon maybe. :noes:

well, i had an alkycontrol meth kit ordered, but the guy was taking forever to ship it, so i canceled and got my money back....the biggest problem i have with the tdo5 18g is the exhaust side is 7cm, and that is way too small for my 2.5L engine...with the slightest touch of the mbc it will skyrocket past 20psi and then i have to spend like 4 hours of tweaking to get the boost down again. i set it too low its underboosting and still creeping like hell up top... i set it a little high and its spiking hard and overboosting.....its a pain in the ass....while i love the ridiculously fast spool of the 18g and very smooth and linear powerband, im going to go with something a little bigger and not have to worry about boost cut due to overboosting.....as far as not being able to utilize the turbo's full potential, i found a place locally that sells torco, and the race track here sells race gas, so ill just have two maps ready at all times and switch to race gas map when i hit the track or have a worthy race lined up:thumbsup:

At 15psi tuned I woulda won.

We had an issue with my BOV being too loose and not letting me boost over 7 lbs. Of course I didn't have the right size Allen wrench so I tried to move it as much as possible but it still only let me hold 10-12psi all the while opening and making me run pig rich and run with 22 counts of knock for the first race, 28 for the second, and the last one was so high it registered as error and almost cut my ignition.

Id say vlad's car is a good mid 12s car just judging by how it performed. At 15psi I was running mid-low 12s so shitting on itself at about 12psi bogging like crap it held its own.

I'm sure we'll get a round 2 soon maybe. :noes:

yup yup 06-07 wrx are where its at. I picked mine up for 22,600 clearenced new, stickered 27,600 only have 2300 mods. All new parts nothing used.
Running 11s for 24,900 works for me. Although its slow as shit to me lolol but thats another story

My car had a 24 knock count at 12 psi and I held on to a 19psi Car that even though not running 100% was running about 90% better than my car was at the moment. When we got to the gas station my BOV was leaking (reason for it running so bad and not holding boost) no one had an allen wrench but I went along with it anyways because I wanted to get a chance to see what the 18g could do. I expected to get waxed but I held maybe a car back (rear bumper) at 12psi, knocking at 22-24 (mucho timing being pulled running about 7) and stayed there until 4th when it stopped knocking and I was starting to feel some boost picking up and we had to stop because of some stupid truck. the other 2 I couldn't go WOT and the 3rd I let off once the car tried to cut ignition and I got the big ol "danger to manifold" warning.. I didn't want to lose my floor boards. :rolleyes:

Let me know when any of your cars runs that quick at 100% (let alone 1/4th mass) then I'll give you credit. :p I act like a tool because it gets under peoples skin and some of you take the internet too seriously. Ask Vlad how fkin awesometastic I am in person. Its all a game to me.

It wasn't a "race" and he acknowledge the fact he knew he'd lose if it was at 100% and thats all the recognition I needed and that mutual respect as a tuner is all that matters.

WRXs are awesome at what they are made for and in my opinion, so are RSX's...

IMO, RSX's make a pretty damn fun car to carve up roads with every once in a while with bolt ons and some suspension work...and at the same time can be relativley reserved, comfortable, classy cars to drive around every day if you dont turn them into boy racers. I kind of think of WRX's as the cheaper STi(obviously) the same way as i kind of think of the RSX as a cheaper 350z or G35. You guys might not agree with the comparison but thats kinda the idea i have in my head.

When I say it just don't take offense to it. What a lot of the idiots don't realize is I use to have an RSX and it was faster and probably nicer than the ones they own now. So when they talk about my car I just smile considering the fact I already out grew my RSX and love how these new booties think they are reinventing the wheel.
