RSX Base vs Tibby, Cavalier, Sunfire, Neon

Well I'm sad to admit the race scene down in Calgary is a bit lame, the main competition I have is pretty much Tiburons, Cavaliers, Sunfires, and Neons.

I drive an RSX Base stock atm.

If I'm racing stock how do you think I will stack up against each of these cars (assuming light mods suchs as CAI & Exhaust)???

around what level exacly ? stock for stock you should win against Cavalier,Sunfire and Neon

mod for mod also the k20a3 is still a k serie engine and it responds better than the others ( Cavalier,Sunfire and Neon )to bolt's on so these 3 should not be a problem if you know how to drive

Just to stir the pot...The higher model Cav's and Sunfire's (with the 2.4 engine) will probably give you a good run. 150hp vs 160hp, similiar weight. They also have 155ft lbs compared to whatever you got....130 maybe? I'm not sure on the base models.

you shouldn't race your base auto, you should drive it daily and save gas and enjoy the interior and reliability..you know, what the car was MEANT for :thumbsup:

leave the racing for cars that dont take 5 minutes to get to 2nd gear...

The base runs 149ft lbs, almost the same as the Type-S

I don't know why everyone is knocking the base, whats the difference - 2 manifolds, cams, and the valve timing...all work I do plan to eventually do...which will cost me less to convert it over than it would have cost for a type-s anyways...oh and the 6-speed tranny I guess you got me on the tranny but other than that seriously...the engines are based on identical platforms, a little work and it converts right over.

Yea a bit, to be fair though there are some very respectable vehciles at the meets (I guess depending on your tastes) some nice Sentra SE-R's, 300zx's, unfortunatley though it's mostly lower end domestics...don't get me wrong I know my car isn't exactly on the M5 end of the scale or anything but I'd spend 12 grand on an RSX thats slow in comparision to someone that buys a newer tibby or ion for the same...

The fact that most family sedans will give you a run for the money says something about the race scene being lame.

Its not a street race if 90 percent of the cars on the road are faster than you.

That being said, my parents buick century should be able to beat all of those cars lol

Buying a faster car that accepts more modifications easier isn't a waste of money.
I am not fully versed on the subject, but supercharging a base auto and getting kpro or a reflash to work with it isn't exactly a plug and play ordeal.

You're an idiot plain and simple. Fact of the matter is I bought my car (not a type s dumbass) for LESS than you bought your base. I have done ALL of the modifications myself besides actual welding of exhaust and sfc's. That INCLUDES the cam swap and valvetrain swap. Starting out with a better platform is AWLAYS cheaper in the long run. You'll spend that "6 grand" difference just to get to the level of a stock type s with bolt ons/kpro, and guess what....you'll just about be maxed out on performance while the type s can go beyond that. Fact of the matter is you picked the wrong car to get into the "street scene". Keep it for it's comfort, reliability, gas mileage, and resale value. Then go get you a real damn car to go race with. I'm actually starting to believe this is a joke, you are from Canada it seems, so maybe you are just that dumb :thumbsup: .

all people are telling you is that your car is slow as balls and while being a nice car IS NOT meant for any sort of racing...sure you can dump money into it and make it a wee bit quickER, but itl still be slow. sure you can dump LOTS of money and make it QUICK, but in the grand scheme of things itl still suck ass.....all im saying is: instead of getting all pissy that everyone laughs at your slow car and your "racing scene" that consists of sentra's and what not that would get beat by a camry v6, you should just drive the car normal, not try to be all f&f on a automatic slowmobile, enjoy it for what it is and save up for a much faster car in the future...take it or leave it batman, but thats the smart thing to do here...

they are fun little cars though, a friend of mine has one: 04 black with gunmetal rims i/wga/stg2 injectors/ecu/straight 3" tbe....the fucker has some grunt i tell ya: 1st and second gears are pretty much tractionless:laughing:

Nah. Even with my 1.52 short time I think I BARELY got the wheel off the ground by an inch. I don't see an extra 175 RWHP putting me up too high.

TS, if u race aaginst a auto v6 tibby it should be a good race.
