your tracks don't flow together, but your cue points are on, you need to clean up your EQ'n.

are u mixing with a mixer and cd'j's or are u using a program?

what i'm tryng to say is you adjust your Mids, Highs, and Lows at a certain bar so your transition will be alot smother and cleaner when your bring in and out a track.

gotta take off to work right now but i'll go more into details later..

from my experience this is what I believe he is saying. Kinda hard to explain.

Before I mix/fade in a song i reduce the bass and mids of the new song coming in to make it less noticeable that a new track is slowly being brought into the mix. Dont just throw the song in at full gain. Slowly bring up the volume of the song to match the other one already playing. After I have the new track mixed in and the volume matched on the track coming in to the one being played, I then, at the same time, turn up the bass of the new track and turn down the bass in the other track at a certian bar. I hope this helps a little.

what I'm trying to says is similar to what Cap'n Jambz is trying to explain too....your bring your tracks in too hard by eq'ing poorly........ever one has their own way of eq'ing but for me.........

right after the break down if i wanna keep my set driving.....

at the i will cue in my track and have it beat match by the 10 sec mark...at the 15 sec mark i will turn the eq on the incoming track all the way to 9 0 clock on my mixer...and slowly bring my track up..

at 30 sec mark i will crank up the highs on the incoming track from 9 oclock to 2 o clock...

at 40 to 45 sec mark i will start cancelling and introducing the mids on the incoming and outcoming track from 9 oclock to 12 clock to 2 oclock bar by bar...

then at then at the 1mn mark thats when the 1st track dies and the bassline on the incoming track kicks in then i crank the lows up...

hopefully this helps.

this way one of your track is slowly dying the your slowing bring in the other track...

1.) Replacement for the aging CDJ-1000 MK3's (while a good CD player it lacks tons of versitility that many other CD players in the market offer). The MK3's have been in the market way too long and the CDJ 400's are already more versatile than the MK3's at a fraction of the price.

2.) A new type of controller with some type of MIDI interface.

3.) Or a new device altogether that the market hasn't scene.

Do you strictly use CD's to dj? Or are you using something like Serato / Traktor?

I used strictly cd's only, due to the fact that I seen many people used those program and using high end mac computers at the same time, and it still crashed on them, so to avoid all those problems, I just used whats more reliable. Only if vinyl wasn't so expensive and such a drag to haul around, i''ll still be playing on vinyl.

I'm thinking about pursuing this hobby a little further to see what comes out of it.

I played two days ago a quick little set (20 minutes or so) and later in the set when I was finally getting the hang of it... even I was amazed how good it sounded. I have never used a real-life mixer before and it made a huge difference already.

I think my initial setup is going to be a 4-channel mixer with two cdj200's going through serato. This way I can practice touching things and making things happen as opposed to a computer program and mouse (freaking unbelieveably hard) and without investing crazy $$$$ into something I might not like to pursue further.



By the way, I have a fresh tracklist to work with... i'm really digging Wolfgang Gartner's stuff too.

nothing wrong with going with pioneer products. I started out and wasted 1k on numark stuff, totally regret it, then i just said fuck it and bought a whole new pioneer set! the EFX box is the shit! especially when you got a partner to work with, my buddy does all the fancy efx stuf on the EFX, while I cue in track and work with the efx on the 800, awsome combo!
