what does it mean when you say the bulbs are colour shifted(or not)? i'm a noob to retrofit, and am about to use tsx projectors to retrofit my 05 type s, and like that bluish tint you got from your tsx projectors.

also, anybody that's used the tsx projectors, what did you use to make the shroud?

color shifting is when the bulbs are used for so many hours, they start to turn the blueish color everyone wants. but you are losing light output as the bulbs are starting to age. so my pics were more yellow because they were only on for 30min or so when i took those shots. what filter do i use when i take night shots of the lights? is it tungsten?

hey you ever get the condensation out of your headlights?

Yea it all evaporated out like a week or two after the problem. I've went to the car wash a couple times since then and it hasn't come back.. But now I go into the automatic car wash fast so when the underblast comes on it's about midway on my car so no water goes up into the engine bay. I still havn't got around to fixing the boot on the back of the headlights, i'm waiting for a warm sunny day to do that. I can't wait until then so I won't have to worry about it anymore.

its really more blue than green and since then, the glare is less since i got rid of condensation in the housings.

6000k = purple <~ doesnt put out as much light as the others but it has that purply tint like those with facotry projector/hids..
5300k = blue
4300k = white <~ brightest out of the bunch.. or puts out the most usable light.

I just joined the other day and this is my first post. I saw the HID thread so I thought what the hey. I know I dont have an rsx but the ep3 is as close as it gets I guess, I still love the rsx. I didnt see any McCulloch 8000Ks posted i dont think, so ill offer mine in case someone is thinking about them. This is the low beam kit on stock housings. Maybe someone will like them. :)

ep03TN
03-11-2005, 11:18 AM
Thanks for the complement. Everyone on the HID forums and some on ephatch make the biggest deal about glare and HID kits. I was a little worried about it, but seriously, there isnt that much more glare over stocks. People said you cant see with 8000Ks, well, they are ALOT brighter than stocks to me, even in the weather, rain or snow, they are great. I am just a fan of the bluer types, to each his own I guess. Here is a picture that you can see a little better, not TOO bad with stock housings.

http://www.boomspeed.com/frizzel/HID8.JPG

I have one small stray beam of light that comes off the left reflector and I cant figure it out, but other than that its pretty clean. Ive adjusted the lights a little, these are all pics right after i put them on, the right beam needed to be raised some.

SpeeDemoN

Camera's don't always capture the glare accurately. It's usually a lot worse in person.

ep03TN
03-11-2005, 01:07 PM
Camera's don't always capture the glare accurately. It's usually a lot worse in person.

This is why I took a picture both above and below the cuttoff for comparison. When you aim a camera at a light, it will pick up a halo effect which will get bigger with intensity. You can see the difference between pic #1 and pic #2. The pictures are actually pretty accurate. I wouldnt try to push this kit at all if it had bad glare (i dont have an rsx, the results might be different), then I would have to see the same thing from oncoming vehicles. I also know how expensive these mods are, and for someone like me, takes a while to save for them. For as long as ive run these lights, i have gotten the high beams from oncoming traffic maybe 3 times, which is less then when I had my stocks on. I also realize this is a PnP kit, and it in no way comes close to the perfection you can get from HID retrofit/projectors and im not argueing that at all. I say if your good enough, do a retrofit and have some bad ass lights. I just like to keep things simple.

SpeeDemoN
03-11-2005, 01:11 PM
Cool man, what size are the stock bulbs on the EP3? Are they H4?

Did the kit come with some shields for the bottom of the bulb? The kit looks pretty good with regards to glare etc, better than most reflector HID pnp kits I've seen...

ep03TN
03-11-2005, 01:17 PM
 yea the ep3 has H4 stock. There is a glare sheild yes, ill show it to ya. Don't get me wrong, there is some glare on any reflector setup (generally).

http://www.boomspeed.com/frizzel/HID15.JPG

btw, your setup is bad ass man.

SpeeDemoN
03-11-2005, 01:19 PM
Ah HAH!!! I knew it....

Believe me that glare shield makes all the difference. Without it, you would have RSX glare.
