Hey guys, I am not here to flame or start anything I just want to know what the deal is with red wheels? I see them everywhere now and I know it's a JDM thing but why do it? I really don't mean why I guess because I think you should do what you want with your car, but why is this the big hot thing? Where and why did it originate?

I know that isn't a great way of wording the question but I can't seem to find the words I am looking for, for some reason. I know why people rebadge and I know why people do type R seats and the type R spoiler but I don't get the red wheels.

sorry for misunderstanding. im not telling you anything or things to do on your car. Im just saying that red rims are ok as long as they look good on the car. They look good, but im not going to get them. I prefer bronze rims.

I think that red rims look good/ok on a clean black, silver, or white car. Any other colour looks weird, and on a red it would just be too much of the same colour.

well personally i love my red rims. i guess its just something different than whats out there. most ssm rsx's out there either have gunmetal or silver rims on it, its just too common. red's a weird color for rims, but i think if you do it right there are ways to pull it off and make them look clean. i love the attention they get, everywhere i go i get ppl to turn heads when i go by whether its a good or bad look. still in the process of getting some red dc5 recaros to really pull the rims together with my car. my dream rims are the red GABS but they're nearly impossible to get brand new unless you're connected well. check my sig if you wanna see pics.

basically its different, but unique. most ppl who understand the jdm fad seem to appreciate them, here in the bay area/ socal ppl tend to be more open to these things. i noticed that only 2 or 3 ppl have red rims on their rsx, and they're all from cali.

GABS refer to GAB Sports which is a japanese company that produces the style of rims that i have. unfortunately mines are replicas, but GAB makes the real ones and they are very hard to find and get, especially in our lug pattern. i don't know of one site that sells real red gabs brand new. i think it was GAB Sports that really made red rims a big thing when they produced those rims.

Only the people who are very into the JDM styling buy them. If its a matter of universal appeal than there would be many more non-JDM people buying these rims. But that is not the case.

haha yea me you and that other guy went through many pages of debates about this. at the end, as long as the owner is happy that's really all that matters. what may be beautiful to one may be ugly to another, the world would be boring if we all had the same opinions
