All of them. Well maybe not the supra wing on the RSX just because I am not sure what that would look like. I think it may fit into the last catagory though. lol

Badging a car as what it isn't
Those "Combat InVADER XGT Super XD6 360 Moonsault from a ladder" front bumpers that you see on every other Del Sol
etc

Theres a lot of 'rice' and you can't really define it, although its been tried in many, many threads before. Plus rice is an overused term.

It's funny how people who have just gotten into the hobby since the FandF define rice as what is in that movie however if you ask people (like me) who have been doing this for 10 years they will tell you all that stuff in F and F was cool once. For some reason because it was in the move that got 90% of you into this hobby it's rice now. :dontknow:

Rice is a state of mind not a mod to your car.

I think we're both waiting for F&F3 - Vin and Paul in Japan! :rotfl:

And yes, before and around the time of the two movies altezzas and all that were unique and cool, I was even considering them at one point. Its less "rice" and more what it a fad and what isn't.

That's true! lol..along w/ the aluminum spoilers and all! YUK! But what's funny is that there isn't a single car in "Fast & The Furious" with altezzas and yet everybody wanted them after that movie!

YO! BLK04INNNC! erase some of your old PM's so I can PM you! Your box has been full for a while now!!

Rice would be what I saw today. I saw an acura legend, looked pretty beat up with a mexican driving. On the top of the windsheild, it read "POWERED BY ACCURA" and no that isn't a typo, he actually spelled it ACCURA! hahaha

Exactly. From what I see there are lots of hard-core JDM addicts that go the whole 9 yards, but usually the most vocal, self-proclaimed "JDM addicts" have emblems and/or a Type R wing, and maybe 1 or two other minor things. In terms of Honda/Acura, most of the "JDM" cars you see are all appearance, where as when you think JDM Nissan/Toyota/etc. you think of engine swaps, bigger brakes, and the like.

However I don't think all of Honda/Acura is turning "rice". Every brand has questionable mods to say the least, for every ricey one there's usually a nicely done one, its just that you usually hear the most about the weirder ones..

As for shows, if you were an organizer for a car show, would you turn down the cash coming from a car, no matter how ugly you think it is? And imagine how offended you'd be if you got turned down because what you've worked on was thought to be crap?

yeah very true. it's just honda/acura is a little burnt.... cops everywhere are after our cars..... little kids are getting our cars and pushing shit to another level. most of us here are adults and understand that street racing is a big NO. street racing is a nother form of rice.

i completely understand that point of view.......

but what about the spectators........ i think you would make more money from having people come view the show then people entering the show..... if you go to a show and the cars are wack.... will you go again next year?

there for a lot of shows are losing there respect and will slowly start letting in the rice croud in and just get worse and worse.... unless they get more stirct the following years.

For an example of the JDM ricers you are talking about see my sig. That guy is the definition.

As for shows I definately see your point. I have judged a few car shows and I have seen some awful cars in them but I don't blame the organizers for letting them in. What I like about my local show is that the judges fill out comment cards about the cars so if you enter you get critiqued. So if someone has a poorly done car as a judge I let them no in a nice way and they can improve on it. I have certainly seen this work because I slammed this one kid for having probably the riceyest car I have ever seen one year and by the next year he really cleaned it up and ended up getting 2nd in the import class.

Yeah you're right, I used to really like shows, etc. No I much rather go do something else even though I know a lot more than I did a while back when I liked it more. I know what you mean, I just don't know how it can be enforced and be fair...

And I totally agree with you on the street racing issue. It sucks, if I go too far north into no-import land I get targeted immediately in my almost stock looking RSX, and i've been followed by cops, etc. It stinks. For an example of the JDM ricers you are talking about see my sig. That guy is the definition.

Its amazing. There's also the quotes in SilverRSXJezus's sig....

And yeah, if I see a car that I think is really ricey and the owner starts talking to me (like at a show, gathering, etc.) I try to just make slight nudges in the other direction of modding, rather than flat out telling him that I think its ugly.
