Is there a difference betwenn the iS headlights and the Type R's, or do they both have dark housings and optional HID's?

same housing.. but i dunno bout the HID's

The type-r housing is equiped for hid's so i think it takes a d2s bulb or something like that.

Im almost possitive that the housings are the same, the difference is that the ITR has the D2 HIDs.

the housings are similar, but the reflectors are different. most people who buy JDM headlights aren't really the Type R ones. because type r only came in HID. They have the IS ones.

OK, that's what I'm trying to get at..The Type R only comes with HID's?

yea it's more but when you have them next to each other it's worth that 500..00 more. I got JDM HIDs and would spend that money on it again.

02-04 JDM Integra iS headlight using H1 bulb
02-04 JDM Integra DC5R headlight is using D2S bulbs

Mainly cuz the JDM iS light is alot cheaper to buy brand new then the DC5R headlight (new oem ballast/bulb = $$) I changed the iS headlight and added Xenondepot 6000k hid, still cheaper then the DC5R headlamps itself (brand new pricing that is).

I'm sure you can't. but the way it shines isn't the same. alot of people who have aftermarket kits don't shine as straight as JDM ones.

All JDM Type R's do not come with HID. The hid lights are an option, and there are some type r's that don't have hid.

go right ahead. Japanese buyers had the option to not get the hid lights. There are a few of those cars over in England now. The "C-pack" options tend to vary from car to car also, depending on customer preference. The non-hid type-r is less common though....but they still exist

yup. You will need the TYPE C optional package from the dealer.
The ones that dont come with the HID on the DC5R is using the DC5 iS H1 headlight.

I think it was around $17xx US for the package. I dotn really rememebr what it was consist of tho.

Interesting. I wonder why that's even an option and not standard on the Type R. Who wouldn't want HID's?

itR's had HID's as an option. but ill say this, i know i sure as hell would want HIDs!! they r pimp. but its like everything, it costs more for Honda to make them standard, so the option is there for those willing to pay for them.

Actually the other way around. It stands for "comfort" package and give the car certain creature comforts:
auto-retratable mirrors
the tint on the rear glass
the engine start button
Rear wiper.

Some cars come with mix and matches of the c-pack options. Mine has all except the engine start button, and I know others who have different combos.

The hid's were optional too, but some people, for one reason or another opted not to get them. The rear parcel shelf in the trunk also doesn't come standard on the Type R. Weight saving I guess :)

I wouldn't want JDM HID's. Beacause the beam pattern on the left is strait but on the right side it angles upwards. Blinding oncoming traffic. MAybe im just too considerate? :dontknow:

I haven't had anyone Hi beam me because my lights are to bright and have been driving on them for about 3 and a half years. Every HID light will blind you somehow though. we don't drive on perfect roads. esp in socal

Thats cool, although i would still prefer not to be driving towards you on a 2way interstate. :D

True about the crap roads, but when on a level surface my s2k HID's are a nice and blue/purple on the other end. Not bright at all.

Alright i have a problem: My jdm hids' tabs are broken. So im going to do this:

1. Take the hids, ballasts, and bulb and put them in iS headlights.

The iS takes H1 bulbs and the jdm hid takes D2R. Can I use the D2R bulbs with hid and ballasts for the iS headlights?

Can I take out the plugs and stuff from the jdm hids and put them in iS headlights to make it work? Any suggestions appreciated.

Jor-El
04-20-2006, 01:06 PM
yes you can.

Dr. RSXPiiimP
04-21-2006, 08:25 AM
ok then what makes the beam pattern on the iS headlights like this \.\.\ ?

So there are 3 different reflector bowls made for the DC5:

d2r \.\.\
h1 \.\.\
h1 /././

Is there any way to use d2r bulbs and have a regular beam pattern ( /././ ) ?

Jor-El
04-21-2006, 10:40 AM
Is and Type r head lights shift to the left to prevent oncoming traffic form being blinded, since Japan drives on the left side. Us lights will deflect to the right. I assume this is what you are experiencing.

Dr. RSXPiiimP
04-21-2006, 10:45 AM
Lol i just said that. This is what i have:

jdm hid headlights
us oem headlights

That tabs are broken on the jdm headlights. The question is this:

What do I have to do to be able to use D2R bulbs AND have the US beam pattern /././

KSMatic
04-21-2006, 11:54 AM
jdm hid headlight crew holla..

i have d2r on my headlights..

they are pointed more to the driver side, basically the beam goes towards the left.

i adjusted mines so it sits a bit lower and closer so it doesnt blind people.

Dr. RSXPiiimP
04-21-2006, 11:57 AM
holla

Maybe ill do that instead, doesnt look like theres another way around it.

Where'd you get the 5000k bulbs from?

Dr. RSXPiiimP
04-22-2006, 04:22 PM
so this might sound stupid.. but do i need to use xclips for the d2r bulb?

Jor-El
04-27-2006, 11:11 AM
To avoid confusion show me a pic of your clips. The iS housing where the dr2 bulb(low beams) is, has a y-shaped clip that hooks the bulb in place. That is all you need to secure the bulb.

Jor-El
04-27-2006, 11:14 AM
Oh, and to your previous question. The only way you would be able to get the US type beam pattern would be to swap the bowls/reflectors out. Which would essentially make getting the JDM headlight pointless in the first place. You'll just have to live with it as is.

ArcticBlu
04-27-2006, 01:17 PM
haha i have the JDM iS with usdm reflectors so I don't blind people, 6k XD HID's FTW.

Dr. RSXPiiimP

i just swapped out the reflector bowls everything works fine thanks

So the iS JDm healights should be compatible with my H1 HID kit right?

holland
09-01-2007, 03:19 AM
so what i think that you all are saying about the OEM HID DC5R's beam pattern is like this: ___ \___ The left headlight's beam pattern is flat and the right is angles left and up. I thought that both would be like this:
\___ \___ Crap if the beam pattern is flat on the drivers side then that should eliminate a lot of the light going into oncoming traffic and making it non-blinding. Oh yea that means I can save my TSX projectors to be retrofitted into my truck or hayabusa! :beerchug:

doesn anybody have the part number for the JDM HID headlights? Also, can you order the HID headlights minus the actual HID bulbs and balasts? I just need to replace my headlights because they are hazing but the HID components within them are fine.

Ok let me confirm something about the JDM IS.....

I have a JDM Type-IS.........I got my car directly from Japan...it's RHD and it came with HIDs and the ITR headlight........I have the same ballast as the ITR and the light is exactly the same........however I have seen JDM RHD Type-IS without HID..........so it's an option for the IS too........

See my car below......
