My friend uses Adobe Lightroom for all his PP jobs, and his pictures look incredible after some work. I've been using CS2 for a while now, and have gotten past its pretty-damn-steep learning curve. However, I'd like to give Lightroom a try, since it's aimed specifically at photographers.

Anyone have thoughts on Adobe lightroom and his advantages/disadvantages over CS2? I already google'd an article about how Lightroom is better for processing large batches of files, as its more efficient. But I want to know about real-world experiences, so I'm asking you folks.

I've never tried it, but I'm pretty happy with CS3.

i really like lightroom. its really a nice and quick application for photos if you're still using older versions of photoshop. it lets you keep a library like adobe bridge, great RAW controls, pretty nice before/after comparisons, and a lot more.

this application is pretty much for people who dont want to shell out the money for photoshop and/or dont do alot of photoshop PP. everytime i used to use lightroom, i would always find myself going back to photoshop for the rest of the PP, so there really is no point in me using it anymore. but for the price of lightroom and the amount of control it gives you for editing photos, i would say it's worth the money if you still dont have photoshop

i have lightroom, but I haven't taken the time to get into it.

i just usually open up CS3 to do my photo work as if by instinct.

a lot of photographers layer multiple versions of the same raw file on top of eachother to get the most out of every part of their images. lightroom can let u make adjustments but it wont let u make a final image if u are really into "getting the most out of your iamges" . but then agian, that phrase means different things to different people

:iamwiths:

i have about 4-5 copies of the same layer every time i edit. lightroom wont let you do that

it is pretty fast!!! i use it on pc and mac and it seems to be a larger speed improvement on the mac than the pc.
