Ok, I want to buy a digital camera, nothing fancy. Just something you would use to just take picture of anything. So for all you photographers, could you let me know what camera would be a good one to buy for about $200. Like I said, nothing fancy just want a good brand and something that will take nice pictures.
Any of the Nikon, Canon, Sony products will do what you want as far as taking a picture. The rest is a size and features issue.

Go with a Canon that fits your budget. I have a Sony and I have to say I wish I bought the equivalent Canon. My friend has the Canon and the features and picture quality I think are much better. The SD630, assuming you can find one still, should fit your budget.

I'm going to say go Canon for a couple of reasons:
- if you want you can get a Powershot A series that still offers manual controls, something you wont find very easily on any but the more expensive Nikon P&S cameras.
- while Sony's pictures tend to look good when they work, a friend of mine has a newer one and the thing f's up white balance pretty badly probably every 1 in 8 pics.

I'm thinking of getting the Canon sd750 or sd1000

I ended up buying a Canon PowerShotA570, seems pretty good. Haven't had a chance to try it out on much yet.
