interested in the jic coilovers. are you going to include the original springs that came with them? also, how many miles on the coils and any damage or anything important i need to be aware about?

I've been getting a lot of PMs about this, so I'll just put out the info that I've got so far in the thread:

As far as the JICs are concerned and whether they're in good condition? - yes and no...lol

I'm selling them with 2 different spring rates. The SWIFT spring rates at 14k front and 22K rear as well as the stock JIC springs.

I took them off the car because I wasn't very happy with them and how my car was handling on the track. Little did I know, it wasn't a handling problem, but a bad clutch and an open differential that didn't take well to the higher spring rates, but I had them replaced along with a slew of other things and never really got to see how the JICs ultimately held up. I drove a more properly set-up DC5 with these exact coilovers (the exact same ones that I'm selling) and after doing so, I bought them off the guy who was selling his RSX.

I've had a few people inform me that they were fine, but I've had one of my friends tell my they were in need of a rebuild.

They are a bit rusty, but I think some of that can be cleaned up. They're probably about two and a half years old, but I haven't even used them since early 2006. They saw a bit of salt during the winter, and I think that's what made em so ugly looking. I'd feel more comfortable if someone did rebuild them, just from a piece of mind standpoint. While they may not necessarily need a rebuild, I can't sell them in good faith at a normal used price, hence the reason why I'm selling them so cheap.

The SWIFT springs are essentially brand new and are almost worth the price of the entire package altogether.

I'm trying to find out what the details would be on getting a rebuild for those coilovers too. If you're planning on just daily driving the car, I'd suggest just using the JIC springs and selling the SWIFTs. You'll be able to almost make your money back just by doing that.

If you're planning to track the car, I'd get the shocks re-valved to handle the higher spring rates a bit better and have fun. :)

Probably about $800-900 or so.

I'm thinking the problem might be pretty minor, but seeing as how I've got a different setup and don't have the time to troubleshoot something that I probably won't use, I'd be a jerk to ask for anything more on these.

Don't forget, those SWIFT springs could be sold as well, if you're interested in just using the stock springs.

Not sure yet. I have all my parts at a shop I drive for and they're about an hour and a half away from where I live, so I gotta go pick them up to figure out the weight/dimensions.

Should be able to get there tonight to pick up a few things.

I cleaned up the JICs a bit and took some more/better pictures. I'm actually kinda pissed that I listed them for $325, because they look a lot better than I thought they would. There is a slight bit of rust on them from limited winter driving, however a majority of the rust was simply just oxidation on the faux-gold plating that was done on the front coilovers. Structurally, everything looks a lot better than I had anticipated.

One of the struts is missing the adjustment knob though. Shouldn't be too hard to get another one.

strikerflo
10-03-2007, 09:07 PM
You probably won't win any shows with em, but even if they do need to be rebuilt, it's not a bad deal considering that JIC lists them at $2,165 brand new :)

strikerflo
10-03-2007, 10:43 PM
lol...it has been brought to my attention that I'm asking a bit too much for the rotors

$118 shipped is the new price.

Sorry about that guys...bought em awhile back and didn't realize they'd gone down a bit in price.
