valve lash?

a month ago i changed my timing chain and tensioner. i also upgraded the valvetrain with supertech valve springs ,retainers ad seats and went with the hybrid racing chain tensioner. today i got a horrible sound. it sounds like the begining of a roller coaster just a whole bunch a chain clatter. i wont be able to go to the shop till monday but when i called them they said they dont think its the chain or tensioner. i did a compression test like they suggested and the resultss were good. cyl 1..150...cyc 2...155...cyc 3 150 ...cyc4 ..170....is the car safe to drive ? could it be a rocker, lifter or something....to me it sounds like its coming from the head. any ideas what it could be? as of last week it has been a loud screech when starting the car on cold mournings.....when driving and keeping the revs under 3k you can hear the clatter..at 3.5k its quiet...what could it be...a slack timing chain tensioner?

I'd pull that aftermarket tensioner ASAP and install a Honda one. Also, assume you have a full pan of oil?

turned out to be a bad tensioner. thank God nothing else happen. just inspect your part cause things happen even when there are brand new.

Should i change the oil and filter just in case some sediments are there from the tensioner . Or should i just change the filter

thanks..i decided to change it this mourning and i did find some sediments in the oil.....i dont know how it happen but im waiting to hear from hybrid racing

U never have to replace a chain on k series engines its not like a timing belt were ur well break

you will have to eventually...i heard they can stretch and start gaining slack

I figured if im in there might as well change it . I like to do preventive maintenance whenever i can.

hope they at least give you money back and request the broken one for analysis...

yeah ive seen a very Few Stretch. Like 2 and thats a Very few. you would get a Code if it started to stretch. But other than that i wouldnt have touched it.

Hybrid racing wrote me and said they saw this happen once before . In that case the low pressure check valve plug popped out causing the tensioner to rely on the teeth to hold the chain in place . The new method to prevent that is to put some type of sealant they supply on the retaining ring ....they said its no problem sending another tensioner out but is unsure if they can give me credit toward the purchase of another item they sell

what is your reason for not using the OEM chain tensioner? IMO its the best one you could use.

I was gonna need it anyway because I plan on putting aftermarket cams .
