-1.9F -1R and 0 toe

Yeah at GSS was my first time out there. I was trying to learn the track, definetly over shooting some turns and then dialing back.

I just got new batteries for my SJCAM so I should be able to get better video at my event next week

Well I still daily. I wasn't sure if toe would kill my tires or how much toe out to run. I've heard 1/16 each side for 1/8 total?

I had 4mm toe out (little more than 5/32) on both sides in the rear, and 2mm toe out on both sides in the front. Tire wear was still even across the tread, well apart from wearing the shit out of the shoulders from rolling over the tire. I think I definitely could have gone more aggressive with the toe out.

I ran somewhere around 1/4" total rear toe out and 1/16" total front toe out on a autocross/daily car for about one year. I raced with RE71R tires and daily with RE760 tires. With this alignment the autocross tires wore pretty evenly. However, during daily driving the rear tires were wearing at a faster rate than the fronts. I wasn't too upset because they appeared to be wearing evenly. However, I eventually noticed that the very inside edge of the rear tires was worn down and now I am probably going to cord those tires on the inside while there is still plenty of meat left on the rest of the tire.

I have a new setup now. 3.5 deg camber front and 3.0 deg rear. 1/8" total toe out on both front and back. I bought an NB Miata to daily so I don't care as much anymore about tire wear. The car seems to rotate well even with less rear toe out thanks to increased front camber.

Below is a video of yesterdays autocross on low grip asphalt. I was running 225/45/17 RE71R. I just got some 15x7.5 Rota Slipstreams and I ordered 225/15 Rival S 1.5 last night. I will run 20 mm spacers in front to avoid rubbing the calipers. The shorter tire should help me on these smaller parking lots. It will lower the center of gravity of the entire car by 1 inch without messing up the suspension geometry. The trade off is I will be hitting the limiter in 2nd at a lower speed, but most of our races this season are on the smaller parking lot.

Hmm I dunno about you guys but I actually like having a little toe in (rear) for high speed tracks such as VIR and Road Atlanta. Not sure it I would recommend toe out on the downhill esses of Road Atlanta or the uphill esses or VIR. Maybe you guys like toe out because you're only doing autox and gymkhana. Just my opinion.

I'll probably stick to 0 toe until this car isn't a daily anymore. I have dedicated track tires now that shouldn't chunk anyway. Next alignment is just gonna be more camber.

Yes, that is completely different than me taking a turn at 30 mph in a parking lot!

I dunno, car was fine at 112 mp/h. Then again I have a Cusco LSD so what the back end of the car is doing don't really bother me.

This should be here next week. I'll be ordering an OS Giken Super Lock for it as soon as I get the Integra sold. As well as the usual of wheels, tires, and brakes. After that I'll drive it as is and fix whatever needs to be fixed on it.

It's a 1993 Toyota Starlet. Pretty much just a hopped up Toyota Tercel. 1.3L turbo, FWD, and weighs 1800 lbs. I work as an auto mechanic and working on cars all day and owning the DC5 made me really just want something old and simple, and I don't think it gets any more simple than a Toyota Tercel. It will come back to Arizona with me where I will eventually put a K20 in it. The Pulsars are cool on paper, but they handle like absolute crap. Understeer city with those cars.

if a K20 is the eventual plan, why not get something like a CRX?

Cause it'll be stolen in a week if I brought it with me. EG6 is what I really want, but old Hondas cost a fortune out here. Plus it'll be stolen in a week if I brought it back. EG6s are being listed for the same price as a DC5 ITR these days. I paid a little over $3500 for this car to include all the taxes, fees, and shipping from mainland. Plus this car doesn't need an inspection for another 23 months.

oh, for some reason I didn't think that car theft was a big issue in Japan... or are you talking about when you move back to 'merica?

Talking about Arizona. Here I could park my car in a shitty area, leave the keys in the ignition, and come back a day later and my car would still be there. The bigger cities in mainland are different though. Much easier for a car to disappear in Tokyo or Osaka.

Picked my car up today and got the title transfered. Man, this car is a hoot. Didn't realize how much I missed those old school turbo noises. Aint no high compression K24, but it's just as fun in it's own way. I keep doing the Peter Griffin laugh every time it makes turbo noises.
