This seems to be my next car as it has almost everything i need.....300hp twin turbo RWD with aftermarket support :) and since it's going to be cheaper than a 335i that would be a plus..

so i'm just wondering if anyone else is watiing on this thing besides me.

I found this over at another forum...

"BMW North America has been telling us, since the announcement of a U.S.-bound 1-series, that it won't be "a cheap car" — with the value of that statement hanging on each readers' definition of "cheap."

Well, BMW has announced formal base pricing for the 1-series at Los Angeles, removing all doubt. The 128i coupe, with a 3.0-liter, 230 horsepower I6, starts at $29,375, while the 135i, with the twin-turbo, 300-horsepower six, clocks in at $35,600. This is being brought to you mere minutes after the announcement, and there is no official press release yet, so stay tuned and we'll keep you updated."

your forgetting possible differences in gearing based on weight ratio's, and who is going to rip out 100lbs of parts off a BMW? thats actually a LOT of weight to ditch and probably rather impractical. the 3 series is more upscale, just like the TSX or TL is compared to an RSX; its a different market. if you have the cash and want a bigger BMW, go for the 3 series. if RSX-ish dimensions fit your style, go 1 series. a lot of it has to do with rear seat room; the 1 series probably wont be much better than the RSX or G35 coupes whereas the 3 series is actually fairly decent.
