Apexi VAFC-2 Installed! (w/ pics & video)

This is Apexi's latest VTEC/fuel controller which was specifically revised for the I-VTEC. Installation took about 30 mins and required nothing special other than wire cutters, pliers or wrench, and some electrical tape. This is definitely gonna be a popular item for those looking to adjust and tune to specific needs. The car is getting dyno tuned in about a week or two, so stay tuned for numbers.

Wiring diagram

If you don't have the corrected install manual, make sure you switch the orange and light blue wires so that they are connected like so:

Orange wire = VTC cam
Light blue wire = TDC

Blue wire = VTM

I've also attached my latest ecu wiring diagram for all those who need it.

VAFC2 settings and maps

For all those who already have either the SAFC, SAFC2, VAFC or VAFC2, can you guys post your settings with a list of mods installed and peak whp & tq? I'm putting together a spreadsheet of as many map settings as I can get for all to see and compare.

Btw, I'm having a problem getting the video up. Can anybody host it if I email it? It's about 8MB.

I installed mine last weekend...........it definitely needs to be dyno tuned. I have been driving around adjusting the settings, but opening the throttle to full at 3500 rpms is not good to the car!

Gspec, what settings are u using, the ones in the manual, or have u tuned it to special settings???

I've only played around with moving the VTEC lo-hi cam with some good results at around 5200 rpm. A few people have reported successful increases of +10 whp after dyno tuning. That's why I'm trying to get people to send me their settings so I can make a spreadsheet for everyone to try out and compare. I'm sure everyone's maps after dyno tuning will come out different.

SEND ME YOUR SETTINGS PLEASE! Sharing will help everyone including yourself.

1. More power throughout the entire rpm range
2. Smoothing out the VTEC surge
3. Total adjustability to suit everyone's specific needs (Daily Driver, Naturally Aspirated, Turbo/Supercharge, Nitrous, Hard Core)
5. Cool lights that show different meters and graphs.

Of course most of the benefits can only be met with the proper settings such as dyno tuning.

Would this benefit us Hondata owners? The only reason I ask is this: Hondata was made to go along with CAI's. Those of us that don't have CAI's are probably missing out to a certain extent since the fuel maps aren't tuned specifically for our intakes.

Any expert want to take a shot at that? Thanks!

i've have had it in my car now for about a week . i dont understand half the shit it does. i have the HONDATA ITR program in my car already . my main reason for getting it is so i can finely tune my rsx . i just wish it came with a better owners manual , mainly more explaination of all the features. about all i can do is make the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT come on. i get P0219 AND P1259 CODES one is for vtec malfunction and the other for engine overspeed . i dont know what its capable of yet , but i bet once i learn how to use it it will be somewhat beneficial

hey does ur throttle sensor shake when you are pressing the gas? or is it suppose to be constant? coz mine shakes from 3-4000 then 4000-3000... if that makes any sense
