I am in no way a con Artist....Selling cars is selling anything....its just another product that someone needs....wants or desires....Alot of sales people have given the business a bad name by not having any customer service skills...they just care about the almighty dollar. I however am not that way. I like to develop customers for life. Same with 99percent of the other sales people in my dealership. There are only 8 of us at my dealership. We do not have the 20-30 people like other dealerships do so we all work as a very tight team...

What i dont understand is where did all these feelings of negotiation (sp) come from....I mean you dont go into Safeway and try to negotiate the price of a box of rice Krispies do you? So why do it on cars...are we making a unfair profit? In my opinion no....To give an example. An Invoice on a RSX-S is 21805.59 we put about another 200 bucks into all cars with detail and PDI charges. That makes our cost 22005.59, Sticker price on that car is 23850, that is a profit margin of 1845.59 Now from that a "Pack" is taken out of the Gross profit making it 1445.59, Now the salesperson recieves 25percent of that and that is 361.00 for about 4 hours of work.....the rest goes towards the managers pocket (about 10percent) and towards the PG&E (gas and electric and phones) which is about 10,000 per month for our store and for the lease on the building 13000 per month....So There is not a TON of money that is floating around....everyone gets their piece and is happy for the most part....
Why do you always insist on comparing the purchase of grocery items with the purchase of cars. Let me assure you...if the cost of a gallon of milk went up to 21,805 + taxes...you will find me in line haggling for a better price. As things stand....I don't really find it offensive that the store charges me $ 1.99. If I'm really peeved about the price I'll usually go to another store and maybe purchase the same milk for $1.89....hmmmm....couple bucks vs. couple thousand bucks....Can you seriously compare these two things?

Cost is relative....A gallon of milk is just that...a Gallon of milk. A car is a car. Look at what your getting. You see my breakdown of where the money goes...and you still dont see where I am coming from.

A car is second only to your house in terms of investment size. There will always be negotiation when the money is that big...it wouldn't matter if the profit margin was 2%.

I do, however, feel a bit sorry for dealers....I work in the industry and I know that selling new cars is not where dealers make money. It's servicing and used vehicles where the lifeblood comes from.

Unfortunately, you have morons like that whole Cadillac deal with the retired senile lady. That's also another reason why you can't compare cars to milk. There's never been a story of a grocery store screwing over an old lady on a gallon of milk. The suspicion isn't there for groceries...it's still there for cars.

It's the manufacturers who make the big bucks. If you've ever seen the corporate headquarters of any of the manufacturers, you'd understand.

I know this a little off topic, and i know it will vary from dealer to dealer but how much could i get a 2004 rsx 5spd/ cloth, and some minimal options like tint and maybe a spolier or fogs?

Go to Edmunds...pull up TMV....or just offer them Invoice and see what they come back with....you can also search the OTD section...and see what they bought their cars for...but you are right..every dealer will be different..

ok so heres the deal...ive been debating over the EP3 and DC5-S and decided to pick the DC5-S. My parents will be the ones paying for the car and they told me that instead of getting a 2004 RSX-S now, they were planning on getting it once the 2005's hit the lots. A few questions are...

Will this really make a difference in how much they would save?
How much would a 2004 RSX-S depreciate once the 2005's arrive?
Can i expect 2005's to be available as early as august/september?
Will we save even MORE if we decided to buy it at the end of the month?

thanks....

-they would probably save money up front getting the 2004 once the 2005's come out

-it will depreciate a good amount, not alot but a significant amount

-the 2005's will most likely be available like around Oct/Nov. if the past dictates what Honda will do

-you won't SAVE persay but you might get a better deal at the end of the month

This is more of a sales type question. I have been waiting for a 0% apr sale to happen so that I can get me my RSX TYPE S from the dealer. The only problem is that it seems to be taking forever, and basically im juss wondering when there would be such a sale??? easter or memorial day, or even all the way in july for july 4th?????

22,500 will not happen unless the area you live in is about 0percent tax.....It matters what state you buy the car....because that will change the tax rate..

Im 18 and saving up for a type-s. Ever since this vehicle came out i knew it was the one for me..lol(kinda like love at first site). Ever since then ive been working and saving up and i am aproaching the day i will finally be able to but it. Im having second thoughts tho because after working so hard i would feel somwhat deprived for spending it all on one thing even tho it was my intention, its a different story when u actually doing it. I feel that the price is not really worth me giving away my blood and sweat for. So i was wondering if there was any way(methods only a salesperson would know) in which i could get my dream car for a "cheap" price so i will be able to sleep at night knowing i got a great deal on my very first car. I read somwhere that if u go to a dealership and u want a black rsx and notice they dont have any silver ones that u should ask for a silver one. BEcause in order to get a vehicle they dont have the dealership has to trade with another dealership. so when this silver car comes in u tell them u dont like the way it looks and they will cut u deal with the black one...is this true and if so how does it work cuz i dont really understand how it works... Thx alot man.

Just try to buy the Vehicle for anything under 22300...that is a good deal....And you are partly right about the whole color thing...if you go into a dealership and ask for a silver one and all they have is black ones....they will "think" that you will take the black one for the right price....that puts the ball in your court...

Hey thanks for the info, I forgot to mention i live in vancouver B.C. (yes thats in canada dont hate...lol) if you have any idea what the invoice price would be here for a 2002, and 2003 type s plz tell me. And buckeye i have considered the base 5speed but honestly I really have my mind set on the type-s, i am prefectly aware of the premium gas the rsx uses because i have done a TON of reasearch on this vehicle. But like i said b4 i live in vancouver and the gas prices arent too crazy (i think it was like 83.7 yesterday so about 88 for premium). If i did by a base model I know it wouldnt feel the same to me im kinda weird like that, if i get my set on somthing i have to have it. But thx again for the suggestion keep em commin, i really could use some mature advice.
