Thumbs up IMA system for RSX !!!!

Seems like Honda Japan is fitting the IMA system found on DNX (DoulNote prototype) on a DC5-R. It provides 50 hps on all 4 wheels, makes DC-5R 270HP , AWD .

Sounds like a great idea! NO more TC / SC!

IMA is the Integrated Motor Assist system thats on the Honda Insight and the Civic Hybrid, as well as the Concept Honda Dualnote.. DN-X. Regenerative braking charges a battery that powers an electric motor at times where the torque is necessary. Very cool system - I almost got an Insight myself.. I think its an excellent piece of engineering (with the effort going into fuel economy and cleanliness rather than performance).

For a DC5-R with the IMA, a lot of space would be taken up with the battery, the brakes would have to be changed with little generators (in addition to disc brakes), and for it to have rear and front power - I would guess it would be the rear wheels that get the electric motor.

Anyways, where the hell did you hear about this, because I am very skeptical - but it could be some DN-X thinking going towards a practical product.

Highly unlikely........it would add too much weight and it wouldn't be AWD.

It is the exact IMA technology found on DNX . They are using the new compact Polymore-Ion Battery cells found on DNX prototype.
It isn't exactly the same IMA system found on Insight or Hybird civic. This won't be production car. It will also being fitted with a more advanced ATTS. The back seats are gone. I read this on a japanese mag at bookstore. Let me see if i can take my digi cam and take a photo of the aritcle.

Yes, it would be AWD, with the ~50hp battery powering the rear wheels.
