Opening Jammed Hood

Not sure what happened but my hood somehow got jammed...!!! I can't open, I even broke the cable from pulling underneath the driver side...!!!

Any ideas how to open my hood, without cutting...I just got back from Acura and that's what they want to do

Acura wanted to cut??? Psychos.

First get a flashlight and a long flat head screwdriver.

I just had a quick look at mine, looking up from the ground will be pointless. I didn't have a flashlight handy either, but it looks like you should be able to see the mechanism through the grill and be able to come up underneath it through the lower opening. Just try and see what the cable is usually pulling and pry it with the screwdriver.

If that fails, start taking apart the release mechanism in the car and have some vise grips handy. Depending on where the cable broke you should be able to grap it with the grips and give it a good heave. Remember that you can use the busted cable to pull your new one through as well, don't just go yanking it out once you have the hood open.

There has to be a better way than cutting.

You could also try having someone push down on the hood over the latch area while you pull the release.

My hood is a little tricky, but it opens fine if I pull the hood to the left and up to help it get off the hook.

My hood wouldn't open because when I had the front cross brace off (which holds the latch) the hood latch release cable fell out of it's keeper. The ball at the end of the cable was still attached to the latch. After a lot of weeping and gnashing of teeth I was able to get my arm up from the bottom along the driver's side of the latch and pull the cable with my finger. I didn't have to try but this might work even if the cable was off. My arm looked like I was in a catfight when I was done. Jeez does Acura put razor edges on everything or what!
