Ideas for LONGTERM goal of 400-450WHP

This is mostly for fun just to get some ideas and see what you guys would do. Right now im sitting at 7psi which is fine and my car is a DD. Though in a few years ill definately pick up something new (am graduating college in less than a month!)

Anyways here are a few ideas:

1. methanol cooling - though i hear it is bad for the blower?

2. Nitrous - i'd like to have something more reliable, but for the cost it is the best bang for the buck.

3. CUSTOM. since CT has ditched the aftercooler idea, i have been talking with a few people and we are creating some schematics for a possible alternative form of cooling.

there are a few other ideas but i think these are top of my list right now. Any other ideas or comments are welcomed

Current performance mods:
CTSC - 7psi
ACT heavyduty clutch / streetlite fly
Quaife LSD
KPRO
CAI
DCRH
EVOTT

also been thinking id like to possibly run Ron's custom 90mm pistons which i believe brings your motor up to 2.2L and IPS KSC cams

400-450whp out of that blower would most likely require nitrous...would be interesting to see how much you could make on boost only with the 2.2L cammed motor.

Ya I am thinking the same thing though im interested to see how close i could come without it. If i were to spray I would only want to drop a 30-50 shot.

I was thinking of also looking into porting the manifold and maybe the blower. I know Jim has ported teh manifold, though i don't think anyone has ported their blower.

Ever consider fitting the m90 in instead of keeping the m62? I know they've mentioned it here and there, but I never saw anything come out. Did they rule the dimensions as too big to fit under the hood? Or no one has tried?

I've seen a prototype m90 setup, it is aftercooled and only fits a K24 (taller block) and would require a fully built engine to handle the boost.
Personally, I'm pretty confident my new setup will go well over 400 with 16psi+ of boost, then I'll add the nitrous for a real kick in the ass.

i've also been pondering the idea of high hp numbers with my blower instead of going turbo.....11psi, cams, and nitrous are the way to go i guess, just don't misshift haha

That sounds like a sick setup, can't wait to see it when it's finally together. What's the efficiency of the blower boosting 16+PSI?

i know it's not an rsx, but i saw something about a guy with a cobalt ss, same blower, m62, running out of the efficiency range and still seeing gains

Methonol is bad for the blower? Hmm, Perhaps if the nossle is installed too close to the blower itself and the methonol doesn't have enough time to vaporize entirely and liquid is allowed to collect inside the blower (I hope that made sense).. I'll be running methonol/water injection very soon. If something gets fucked up you guys will be the first to know. We're installing the sprayer further down toward the CAI filter, so I'm not really worried about it, but again you never know.

listen i was scared to run nitrous but having run some, i must say i think its an excellent product used in moderation.. i think the biggest problem people have is it is so easy to switch from a 50 shot to a 100 shot, they switch without thinking it through. A small shot seems just fine... Shit we probably made 10-15 passes on the dyno checking out various settings and the car never even flinched...

The problem with the m90 is that it is larger in every dimension, so you would have to have a custom intake manifold, and a custom snout too. For that you are talking some pretty big money.

i just received my water injection kit yesterday too

lemme know if yer satisfied with injecting at the intake tube. i'm leaning more towards drilling and tapping the manifold.

I did discuss this with Joe, after the blower would be best, but you need to make sure your kit has the pressure output needed to overcome the boost of the blower.

If you do end up running it in the intake tube, have it spray AGAINST the air flow. This will help atomize the mixture before the blower.

Let's get some more input on where seems to be the better location to tap the methonol/water nossel. intake or into the manifold? pros and cons for each?

Doesn't the SS run 15 psi stock?

12 psi is stock on the Cobalt SS/SC. However, it must be noted that a Roots supercharger does not create the boost pressure, it is the restriction of the engine that creates the pressure. An M62 spinning 12,000rpm on a Cobalt will move the same amount of air as one spinning at 12,000 rpm on an RSX. It is the engine after the blower that determines boost pressure. That being said, the K20 flows ALOT more air than the Ecotec and will have less boost pressure for a given supercharger speed.

Yup. That part I knew - I just wanted to help clarify that point for the person that posted that.
