Car Getting Keyed = Benefit ?

So im trying to figure out how i can benefit for my car getting keyed .. and it came to my mind that i also do need my side skirts painted .. sooo i went and got an estimate of how much everything would cost to fix the damage and it came out to $3500 .. insurance will cover it but its $500 deductible .. i was wondering if i put my unpainted side skirts on .. if they would paint that as well and have it charged to insurance ? ive heard a lot of ppl getting away with changing the color of their car or getting carbon fiber hoods with their car getting keyed .. i was just wondering if you guys think this would work ? trying to cheat the system a little bit .. haha let me know please !

yeah... cheating the system is called "insurance fraud" and I think it's a felony.

I'm not sure who your insurance agent is... but mine... you would have to show proof that you owned a carbon fiber hood before they gave you the money to buy a new one. But some companies just write off a check and you can do whatever you want with it.

my friend had his IS keyed on his door. he ended up keying his whole car and getting a whole new paint job since his car was already a bit fucked up from dings and chips and shit. he paid 1g and got everything taken out and freshly painted. risky, but he sure was happy

Nope, insurance will put you back at where you were. In other words, they will fix the keyed sections. They will not paint your sideskirts for free because there is nothing wrong with them. Plus, you might wanna reconsider what your doing because getting your sideskirts painted isnt worth the risk of being caught for insurance fraud. Man up and pay for it if you want it painted.

what you can do is get a quote for fixing the keyed portion. then find a body shop that's cheaper, and get it painted there. Once you get the check, it's really up to you what you do with it.

The insurance has their own appraisal people. Get your quote from Acura and tell them thats how much you want. If you can get that much, the money is yours to do whatever you want with it really, they just cut you a check.

Get a quote from a couple of places the place with the highest price tell the insurance company that's were you want it done. You can alway change your mind after you get the check. From there go to the shops that offered a lower price. Say the work is 3500 the insurance deducts 500 so you have $3000 to work with. $3000 will paint a whole car so I don't know what shop you got the estimate from. Anyway talk with the people about painting and mounting your side skirts. You don't want them to paint them on the car. As long as they are painting your car they'll do the side skirts for $150 or less depending on the paint and body work needed. While your are at it if you wanted to have interior parts painted as well to the color of your car it would be a good time to do it as well. Paint is expensive and usually they will have a bunch left over so you might as well use it and it's not fraud. Yet, your insurance is going to butt rape you for next 3 years. Anything you claim on insurance they rape you for later trust me!

When I almost totaled my 1993 MR2 Turbo it has $7000 damage smashed it into a wall NASCAR style smashing the fron end on the freeway. They had to basically rebuild the whole car. I added wheels, suspension, blah blah, blah. Although, I wrecked in May of 1995 and did not see my car until August of 1995. You can see that at www.compdoc777.com under my old cars wrecked and fixed.

Just ask them how much it would cost to paint them. Some places are gay and say they don't have the time and will only do what the insurance is paying for.

Why not just key your side skirts too and say some asshole did it. If they aren't attached then get them put on and have at it. And remember insurace companies always get their money back by raising your rates after you file a claim. Insurance companies aren't out to help people or give people piece of mind they are out to make money and lots of it. I personally wouldn't try to cheat the system.

i'm sure this is true with other companies but if you don't have your car paid off (you're still paying the loan off) then they'll write out the check to both you and the lien holder. then you have to have the lien holder sign off on it before you can cash the check.

Hi guys this is my first post!! My type s got keyed two weeks ago on the passengers side from the mirror to the bumper. The culprit chose the right side!! I already had a bunch of scratches on it that I wanted to get repaired. Basically, I paid my $250 deductible to get that side of my car painted over! It looks perfect now!!

Anyways, I doubt they would paint your sideskirts, but they will definitely fix up any imperfections in the keyed area!

well some chick backed up into me and cracked my rear tail-light and scratched my rear bumper, and i got my car re-painted and stuff...but also my dad works at a body shop, so everything was basically free...so the $787 check Allstate gave me basically went to my 05 conversion.

when my car got hit the inusrance co just gave me a check for the estimate...they should give you an opion of getting you car fixed asap from one of their body shops or give you a check to get it done at your leisure . if you get the check you can do what you want with it

If the scratches are everywhere then insurance will have to paint your whole car. Then put on the lips and whatever else and get that painted too. Or like everyone has said the insurance will cut you a check and you can do whatever with it.
