DIY Guide: How to Install S2000 Push Start Button. (Visual Guide)

Please do not PM me about you having problems doing this and that, i am not a live tech support. I do however have two sets for sale and the panel is also for sale as well.

So after selling 3 units and having one returned due to lack of knowledge of how to install the whole thing and with all the damn threads out there about S2000 Push Start, i guess i have to narrow it down and make this thread for the person and for everyone to see.

DIY S2000 Push Start Button, Installation Steps Only.

Time:
- 20 to 40 minutes

Tools and material needed:
- S2000 Push Start Button with plug or soldered wires on to the 3 pin.
(Green for Output, Red for Power and Black for Ground, 5 pin, 1-green 2-red 3-green 4-5-useless)
- 12Volt 30A Relay
- Wire Cutter
- 4 feet 16-18 guage stranded wire
- Wire Crimper
- female adaptors plugs
- Voltage Tester if needed.
- Electrical Tape

Difficulty:
Medium

Step 1:
Make sure you have your tool box handy, along with all the nice little adaptors you may need. I should clean my shit up

Step 2:
Remove the Steering Column, you need to remove this to gain access to the ignition wires located underneath the key hole.

Step 3:
Now that its removed, locate the brown 8 pin plug, (displayed in the pic with the blue tape)

Step 4:
You need to run about two 20" wires, 16-18 guage wires from ignition to where ever you are going to locate your S2000 push start button.

Connect one wire to WHITE and another to BLACK/WHITE.

Step 5:
LOCATION: Some people perfer to locate the S2000 by the Cigarette lighter area.

Step 5-A
Remove the panel

Step 5-B
Remove plug from cigarette plug and locate the wires, you will need to tap positive and ground from here. YELLOW/GREEN = Positive BLACK = GROUND

NOW, run the wire to where you are going to locate the S2000 push start button.

One thing with that, your passenger can be messing with the button and will cause some damage to your starter if not used properly.

I have locate mines by the Driver side control panel so i will continue from there.

Step 6
Get the two wires coming from the ignition and tap them in to the relay. Connection point can be either: 87 and 30. Can be reversed.

Step 7:
Time to connect the S2000 Push Start Button, connect the green wire from the S2000 to relay point 85.

Step 8:
Connect the Power and Ground to the S2000 push start button and slice the ground wire and connect to the relay point 86.

Step 9:
Finish Product.

VIDEO:

Troubleshoot:
if there is no power, please check all your fuses and see if everything is still up and running. Also, make sure you tape up everything or else it might cause a short.

Also dont forget to turn on your cruise control since you're gettin rid of the button...dont know if it stays on when you restart your car tho...

Where can you get the relay from locally?? Radio shack?? also if i get this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-0...spagenameZWDVW can i just solder the wires to the back of the button or will i need the harness?

Yup RadioShack has them... i work there

i was wondering...did you order a special bracket or somtin to install he push start button.....cuz there is supposed to be 2 little rectangles for the roof an cruise control???
