Post MSF Review

Just finished up the MSF yesterday so I'll be picking up my new R1 from the dealership this wednesday

Okay I'm kidding. But seriously, the MSF is an awesome course. I took the class with a fellow CRSX member and we definitely learned ALOT. The riding bug has definitely bitten us and I'm trying to think of every possible idea I can to get a bike sooner!

Neither of us had any prior riding experience so the instructor started us off on 125cc Kawasaki Eliminators. Those bikes were so light and flickable... By the end of our first day riding the instructor was questioning whether we were lying about having never riden before haha.

We both passed the course and plan on heading to the DMV soon. Ironically our class only had 10 people in it, 4 of which were the coolest/funiest police officers I've ever seen in my life. Those guys really made the course memorable and comical.

I now care little to nothing about straight line speed and get excited everytime I pass a nice curvy road, imagining how much fun it would be to go cruising through it. After completing the riding half of the test, our instructor let my friend and I ride around on 2 250cc Honda Nighthawks for a while. IMO these would make GREAT bikes for just putting around on back roads or navigating through a city or town. LOL, the Nighthawks made our Eliminators feel like Geo Metro's of the bike world

After taking this course I can see why this forum is full of crazed junkies who are willing to part out their cars and whatever else necessary to have a 2 wheeled fun machine. I'm beyond excited and can't wait to get a bike, whoo-hoo!!

Thanks, I was hoping to make it detailed enough to give insight to anyone who hasn't taken it but honestly I can't put it all into words. It really is an informative course and I had a blast taking it

That's exactly what we were wonderfing because the 250 felt like it was pulling harder than a freight train compared to the 125 eliminators lol...and everyone calls the baby ninja's slow

They are slow

But fun nonetheless.

Glad to see you liked the course. I had a load of fun, even though i already had my license and a few hundred miles under my belt on my f4i.

What bikes are you looking at? Still thinking about the sv?

The sv will pull hard compared to the bikes you rode, and the engine braking will feel weird, but just take it easy and you'll do fine.

yea seriously, the engine braking is really awkward right now, since i just got the bike yesterday. especially when i let go of the throttle it feels like its braking pretty hard haha

Yea, the course was awesome, I got a few pics of our hogs...er, piglets didn't get to get any action shots though.

I'm still in love with the SV but don't know if I would trust myself with that much power yet. I've never riden at true street speeds so I've thought about aiming a little lower for now. Maybe a Ninja 500 or GS500?

While going through the cornering excerises our instructor said that she was impressed by my riding. She said that I was picking up on the concepts very quickly and was outriding most of the others who did have prior experience. I took everything she said with a grain of salt though...don't want to get a big head and end up on the ground.

She also asked if I was going to get a sport bike after the class but I laughed and quickly declined. I want to work my way up to one but I'd rather move a little slower for now.

I'm definitely still interested in the SV and if I find one for the right price I'll jump on it.

True, the black one's were my fav color but the new red and blue colors don't look too bad IMO. If I came across one of these for a steal of a deal I'd probably get it but something about the way the frame is welded together doesn't sit well with me.

I doubt I'll be cornering hard enough to notice the chasis difference but in the event of an accident I wouldn't want the frame cracking to be as much of an issue.

Still an awesome bike that I'd like to test ride.

nice to see that you are learning the way of the biker Corolla. Yeah after I took the course, I got a 250 and i couldn't instantly tell that it pulled harder than my car. The same night I rode GK's F4i and that felt like RIDICULOUS amounts of speed. My eyes could barely keep up hehehe

You'll adjust. The 500 isn't bad if you are trying to find something cheap. But I agree, get a used SV; especially if you are feeling compelled to the darkside of riding the curves.

lol, I can't wait to ride an inline 4. I'm just curious to see how the power delivery compares to the 125 and 250's. You guys keep ragging me about the SV...hehe, it really must be an awesome bike
