Water leak in car??

So back this summer I have gutted my interior out of the car except for in the front where I sit, but everything behind the front seats was taken out. Loved it during the summer but since it has started getting cooler out I have had to have the windows up more and the noise is driving me insane. Well any way my problem is that just the other day we had rain for like 3 days straight and since then I have been getting water in my trunk area and I have no idea where it is coming from. I am wanting to put all of my interior back in but with water coming inside I don't want to. I was wondering if any one has had any problems with this?? Me and my buddy was looking at it the other day and he could not figure out where is was coming from. I thought that maybe I have taken out my rear tail lights and that I did not get them back in correctly but they have never been out of the car. Could some one please help me out as to where it could be coming from. I think that it might be coming from around my tail lights but how and where and how can I fix it? I am really wanting to put all the interior back in here soon as well.
The water first puddles in the very back corners of the car right under neath the tail lights then when I drive it goes down into the well where the spare tire goes. I wish that I could get some help on this.

Have you tried running a water hose over it to see if any leakage gets through that way? Check your seals around the hatch especially, but all your seals should be looked at.

i had the same problem. i also had to gut my hatch to find it cuz water was getting under my rear seats.

open the hatch and run water from the top by where the washer nozzle is. let the water run down the side sills of your hatch and down by the tail lights. you have to run it for a good few mins. you will start to see a slow leak probably by your taillights. GL.

o. i would just try tightening the screws.

i ended up taking off my entire bumper off, but it turned out i had one loose bolt which caused the leak.

I had the same problem. I ended up sealing up the area between my tailights and the body of the car with silicone and no leaks since then.

well I found a new place to where the water could be leaking from...I had this problem too with it getting in my trunk...was not the tail lights...was not the drain tubes(started going crazy at this point lol)...it was coming from the washer nozzle!! The gasket went bad and had to replace it, what was happening was it would drip down into my head liner and run down into the trunk when water rained into the nozzle. When I pulled my headliner out I ran water on top of the car and sure enough it started dripping from the little hole where the nozzle is. Just thought I give you guys a heads up since this could be over looked pretty easy.

I would silicone around the head lights to create a better seal then reinstall the lights.

Why the head lights when it is in my trunk. The trunk is in the back of the car which is where the tail lights are not the head lights.

My friend told me that hondas were notorious for water leaking around the tail lights........i took the easy approach and just drilled a tiny hole in the low spot of the trunk...it will still leak but now i dont have the sloshing goin on .

infraredrsx is on a distinguished road
I had this problem, but it was leaking from underneath at the seam at the back of the trunk. I just put some silicon sealant on the inside and outside of the seam and that did the trick.

my spare tire well is getting flooded with water.... the hatch carpet is dry and i can find a damn where its comin from....

also in the inside; it is gettin wet by the passenger side chair rear bolt, the bolt that hold down the front pass seat...but only in that spot...

what do i have to look for..

I've had this problem on my 240, gsr and now type-s. I noticed it after a heavy rain, the jack was makin noise in the back and after lifting up the carpet and spare cover, I noticed that the area around the spare was soaked. What's weird is the carpet and spare cover are always dry.

i had this on my 02

I was baffeld last yr when 5 yrs after owning the car had heavy leaking when parked in rain, would fill up with an inch of water in the spare tire well..... I think this was mentioned above but, I took the trunk panels off... and got out the garden hose.... spent about 2 hours spraying the car from every angle, couldnt find any leaking! Sprayed in the taillight cracks good with the trunk closed, nothing, bone dry! Frustrated, I turned down the water flow out of the hose, opened the trunk and let the hose trickle down the side channels of the rear hatch, this cause one of the holes to leak in the slightest bit where i mounted an amp below the passenger side taillight. I took some rust coat and filled up the holes, no leaking since.... It was my own fault, but it took 5 yrs to leak.... odd...
Never did see the tail lights leak like everyone here states... but wouldnt surprise me if they did... i had an 88 accord wtih bad tailight leak... I did drilled a hole in the spare tire well too so she didnt fill up...

this is an old thread but if you still haven't fixed it i think i have a solution. have you checked the hatch weather strip? make sure there are no wrinkles and no loose strip hanging around. make sure it is fully glued down to the frame.

leaking

ok i have this leaking water from the rain in my trunk, and guess what. its all over the car such as under my foot. I was wondering why is pant always getting wet and soaked from my foot. I pull off the mat, and there is water all over the carpet. it also get from the passenger side and back seat as well. checked the moonroof and nothing there. if is the trunk, how can it come from the front? help. i dont want to drill anywhere in the front because it can cause a exhaust smell inside.

It comes from the taillights and trickles down to where the jack sits. Acura has a service bulletin out about it. Get your taillights switched out if you haven't already.

yeah but my warranty is void. brought it savaged. I'd regret buying it also. but it was cheap. Are they replacing the whole tail light?

i just discovered the same problem the other day too, this sucks. well i gutted the rear to find the leak, and at first i thought i saw a water trail coming from the driver tail light(no exact location)
but now i think its coming from somewhere in the middile of the spare wheel well, where the long bolt goes into. but just above that toward the seats.

can i just bring it into the dealer and have them fix it?

If you don't mind paying an arm and a leg for it and still not even fixing the problem. I had the same thing happen on my trucks rear window once and I had to end up taking it to the dealership to fix three different times and pay them three different times because they said it was a different problem all three times. It still leaked after that so I just fixed my self with some silicon Across the back window and that fixed the problem.

So the moral of the story is to not take it to the stealership unless you don't mind paying a lot for nothing.
